Here I will put everything related to my music making but which does not fit, I think, any other topic. It will be about me journey in music making. A bit of a diary maybe?
I watched all lessons and tried to do it their way, I am not happy about it. So I am gonna do it my way but keep the things that interest me.
I will use riser loops and drum fillers, they actually "teached" that. I am sure you can make them yourself too but I do not have the knowledge about that so I will use loops for now. I will also use transition loops.
What are your thoughts about drum and filler drum and riser loops, do you sometimes use them or do you create everything yourself.
Be sure to watch the comment section for further updates on my journey.

Use whatever fits, create myself if there's nothing fitting, that goes for everything, not just risers and stuff.Mozex wrote: Mon Mar 23, 2020 9:18 pm What are your thoughts about drum and filler drum and riser loops, do you sometimes use them or do you create everything yourself.

i dont use any risers or drums.
i make everything myself most of the time as i enjoy it.
use whatever makes the music work.
over time, you may learn more.
as you say, its a journey.
and look how far youve already travelled since your first post

You can reverse crash cymbal, noise splash and etc, so you kind of get impact and riser effect from same thing, add some reverb and delay to get good tail, than maybe pitch shift it, filter it out and all those fun things, you can get something interesting that works pretty fast.

I'm sitting on some ideas that are like decade old, still nowhere near the finish line, but it's not competition, it's not race, it's journey, sometimes journey takes short time, sometimes not...
Take your time, you will "waste" lot of hours experimenting and trying things out, all that stuff will suck for the most part too, but that's the way to become better, don't be so hard on yourself or you will fall in depression and loose the will to make music, music is art, not manual labor, you aren't paid some negotiated sum on clock to do particular amount of work, it doesn't work like that.

I watched a full tutorial about EDM music production on slate digital academy courses (which are included in my slate digital all acces pass)
I tried to apply it to a arrangement of my own, I also looked at their arrangement and created mine a like since it was a basic arrangement for EDM music (thats what they said at least)
I made a video of the arrangement and will share it here, but it is a very raw version. There is no proper mixing yet on it and there is no mastering on it either but to get to the point I am now I spend literal hours.
It is good possible I will change a lot of things tomorrow, so its not finished at all.
You can see the video here:
Is this a good arrangement? I did exactly as they did arrangement wise...

Watched the Master meter for more then an hour now. Trying to make sure it does not go into red once while on level 0. Now I finally got so far.
Do you guys do this too or do you just lower the master a bit then? I did that in the past but against the end of the song making I had lowered a lot.
Then I saw in the tutorial those people kept the meter at the standard zero. Is there a reason for this? I also did that now but man. I relistened to the song a hundred times, trying to adjust various volume levels of various tracks, just to make sure it would not go into the red. It is barely not going over it but thats good enough for me. Its not going into the red at standard level (0)
So do you guys keep it also at level zero and adjust all instruments so the master can stay on level 0? If so, why?

Damned, added reverb and filter and now ofcourse the metering is all f'd up. I guess its better to add reverb before making sure the master meter does not go into red...

Keeping all your track levels under - 6db should give you plenty of headroom. Your master fader shouldn't be clipping.

Yes they every track is under -6 db and the master fader does not go into red, thats what causes clipping right? It does not go into red. It is on the break of going into red, but it does not go into it loljethrobull wrote: Tue Mar 24, 2020 11:52 am Keeping all your track levels under - 6db should give you plenty of headroom. Would it be okay if I dropped another video of the point I am now so you and others can check and see what may be wrong?
I have put all track levels on the right volume, I think, added reverb on some instruments and a filter on some of them too. I did not EQ yet but I would like to know if what I have is done so far is in a good manner?
Does the master fader also need to stay under -6db? or is it good enough its not going into red?

I am mixing it now so all is under -6db, also the master fader, but it seems some sounds are very low now because they should stay under -6db? I will upload a video once I am down and please take a look at it and let me know if it is good or what is wrong with it...

Yes I understand now, its better to put it lower then -6db , even "much" lower and then gain it then you can get the sounds up from silent instruments. Ok. What the hell is this for witchcraft.
