I noticed Izotope Ozone 9 is on sale right now. Unfortunately I can’t afford advanced, which seems to have most of the features I want. Would elements be good for a beginner in mastering? It’s currently $30 which is a steal.

I’m also open to getting the standard edition if it is more worth it. I’m fairly comfortable with mixing, but in terms of mastering I’m looking to get more into it and learn more. It will save me some money on my future projects rather than having to hire out for that portion. Any advice would be great, I’m also open to other mastering tools. Ozone just seems to encompass a lot in it. Thanks in advance!

I do prefer other stuff to many of the components, like fabfilter for eq and limiting.

But again, at $30 is kind of a no brainer. Great entry point for you to gain experience. If you don't like it, you can sell it on the marketplace here and not lose much if anything.
Thanks for the feedback! Think I’ll likely pull the trigger on it then. Can’t hurt to help me start out with mastering. Do you know if Izotope offers discounts from time to time for upgrading? Eventually I would like Advanced as it seems to have some really key features I would like to have, but right now it’s out of my budget.

izotope full price are a joke.

30$ for element version is the standard sale price, you can easily find it at 15$, and even sometime free.

then you'll get up to 80% off on upgrade as personnal offer, the offer will come quicly but not immedialy in case you are stupid enough to upgrade at full price.

then they will often update major version so they can charge high price on updates.

Maybe slightly off topic but the best investment in terms of mastering is a better sounding room and then better monitors. Then Ozone (or similar), which as pointed out you will be able to get for way less than MSRP.

I started with Elements but quickly upgraded to Standard. To me, Standard is worth it over Elements for the multi-band imager and Dynamic EQ.

Advanced doesn't really add anything useful for me since I only master my own tracks, where I can go back to the mix and fix stuff without using tonal re-balance etc. If you do work for other artists and you get sent mixdowns, that might be useful.

Elements is ok, but not mindlblowing. Imho, it is a gateway to the full version.
I prefer ToneBooster limiter & eq over Ozone Elements.
And as far as AI is concerned, TDR Smart Ops are much better than Izotope.

I got Iris 2, Ozone Elements, Neutron Elements and Trash 2 all for free, and that went towards getting the Tonal Balance Bundle for something like $189 I think.

That bundle is Ozone 9 Advanced, Neutron 3 Advanced, Nectar, RX7 and Melodyne Essential so I thought that was a pretty good deal seeing as I hadn't actually bought anything from them. The Tonal Balance Control 2 in Advanced is definitely worth having, the Standard does not have it.

Oh that’s so good to know they offer some discounted crossgrades. Advanced has a lot of the tools I want, but unfortunately a bit pricey for me right now even on sale. I think starting with Elements is a good and eventually I’ll either find an upgrade to standard or advanced based on what I think I need. Glad to hear they also have bundles as options too.

You really have to check the bundle contents as my Tonal Balance bundle offer worked out cheaper than the Ozone 9 Advanced upgrade on its own. I had to keep double-checking the bundle included Advanced as well as the other stuff as I couldn't figure out how it was cheaper.

So the room is gonna master for us? And everybody will be listenining in that perfect environment? Rooms help you monitor not master.

Uh ok.
Rooms help you hear better. Hearing better helps you mix and master.
