Uncle E wrote: Sun Mar 15, 2020 10:54 pm If you are looking for a cheaper version of the Tube Driver, the Real Tube and TK-999US are better options. The TK-999US (must be the US version) is a bargain for how good it sounds.
Thanks, it's nice to know alternative options and opinions.

The Orange must have solid state power amp, something I don't really need. I was looking for a direct recording option instead of amp sims.

I've thought about, pedals > Joyo American Sound > organic tube device > audio interface > cab sim.

Thanks for you input.

Lately I've been using my amp's effects send to get the full tube preamp into the Brainworx Friedman Buxom Betty. The results are really great. I tried using a load box to also get the sound of the amp's power section but it ended up being too much, the sound was dull from going through Buxom Betty or other amp sims.

If you don't have a tube amp or tube preamp, the Peavey TG Raxx and TB Raxx are good sounding for cheap.

I have 2 amps with loops, a Laney LC30-II parallel effects loop and a faulty Carsbro TC 60, the power tubes are not glowing, I've had it repaired once, might scrap it after testing all the fuses.

A light, low powered portable option is preferable.

I’ve had a Blackstar HT Dual pedal for years and it’s great. It takes effects well, has a good range of tones and the speaker emulated out is decent (though I use IRs more with it).

In the UK, Fair Deal Music has deals on the other Blackstar HT pedals, like £69 for the distortion. They sometimes have codes to take a further 10% off too.

My tube amp is a simple, class A Black Heart 5W. The Blackstar expands it’s usability nicely, especially for mod and delay effects.
I miss MindPrint. My TRIO needs a big brother.

Thanks, that's good to know. It looks like they use a proper current, not starved.

^ Yes, 300V tube circuit. Since they’re an amp company you’d think it was derived from their preamps, especially since it has the ISF knob, with extra gain stages for the overdrive/distortion.

New arrivals bumped some pedals off my boards.

New: my < €17 Danelectro D-1 Fab Distortion
Bumped: tc electronic Dark Magus (low gain distortion from the Smorgasbord series)

New: ThorpyFX Field Marshall (improved Cheese fuzz reissue, oozes build quality)
JHS 'Moon Pi' Modded EHX Nano Muff (I'm a slave to the muff, I tried to resist, honest!)
Bumped: EHX Deluxe Bass Big Muff Pi (too big; to be moved to a pedalboard for bass)

And my distortion pedalboard is now powered by Harley Benton, not the built in Behringer daisy-chain. Good riddance to that awkward cabling. Glad my pedals are safer now. One downside though: the power connector takes a larger footprint on my electric extension boxes, making some outlets unreachable.

I use a 8x looper (and have multiple effects assigned to each loop already), but am considering buying a simple looper so I can bypass my Two notes Cab-M cab sim.
A single effect loop should suffice.

The Harley Benton Custom Line Dual Loop Switch seems suitable, although I'd prefer a more compact solution. If find a discounted unit, I may well buy one.

So I sold a T-Rex Mudhoney and decided to record a quick video with it right before shipping it. Now I want another one!

And here's my new Okko Diablo. I got it to sound like Gregor Hilden and for the life of me can't get anywhere close to his sound, even with the same settings he uses. Anyway, it records really well so I'm going to keep it:

There's also a dual version, I bought one of those when Thomann had 'm discounted.
2 foot switches, all knobs and toggles duplicated, it allows switching between 2 settings (no chaining or parallel use, sadly).
