Does Bitwig work stable and reliable on a Mac?

Apparently 2.5, 3 and 3.1 improved on most of the (especially GUI-related) performance issues people had on OSX. It's fine & comparable to WIndows, though Linux is still the one to beat in terms of performance :)

No, it's not. So isn't Bitwig. There's no such thing like "da best [DAW] on tha planet". Don't be silly.

On Windows (10), does Bitwig have any preference for VST2 vs VST3 wrt performance? Does it take advantage of the VST3 format, such as sample accurate automation (IIRC)? Thanks!

Okay, I was seriously willing to give Bitwig a try on my pretty new iMac (Mojave), downloaded the Demo, set up all the necessary settings.

Playing the instruments live: okay.
Then I tried to simply record some Midi notes.

After 30 min, several readings of the two manuals (starter and standard), clicking here and there: still nothing. No single note recorded.

WTF!
I work for twenty years with different DAWs without problems, but this is incredible cr*p, sorry ladies!

Seems I will stay with my simply and reliable to use Logic Pro, which has never let me down...

Instead of getting pissed off, it'd be more helpful if you actually said what's wrong. Is your controller recognised by Bitwig? Do you see MIDI being received and generating sound via some instrument? If so, perhaps you were recording into Clip Launcher but playing the Arranger, or the other way around? Etc.

For someone with 20 years of DAW experience you're not able to provide any specifics...

Funny, non of us 'Ladies' have had a problem :dog:, If it plays but doesn't record you probably haven't armed the track or something, there is nothing broken in Bitwig. Maybe you should just stick with 'simple' Logic, given your tone you wont be missed as a user on the Bitwig forum!

Bitwig is new and not very easy to learn . Have missing features , which other DAWS , have implemented long ago , and what I found very wrong , they don't listen to consumers , many features are missing , but we have GRID , yet another rack , were you can build your dream synth , but this is what we want ? Out there is Reaktor , VcV rack and softube modular ...
Studio one is near to be best DAW , not to mention GoodOldFriend Cakewalk Sonar , which is free...

Recording and setting up is same as in Logic, you configure your device in preferences, than on track basis see if the desired device is selected for input in inspector and than arm record on track basis (if that already wasn't the case by default when you clicked on desired track), arm record on global transport bar too, hit play and start playing.

In clip launcher view, there's full dot/circle a.k.a record button sing in every square, arm record on track (it's probably armed by default when you click on that track) and hit that record inside of the square and start playing.

Of course, you can set up pre-count, quantization and etc in preferences too, there's also button named "Play" next to "File" in right up corner, where you can access all those options too.

I used Logic before Bitwig and got quite easily into it, very straightforward thing, I never checked the manual for it, it's all pretty much similar, there's also info popping out on the lowest bar of the Bitwig window.

I did exactly this and arming the global record and transport doesn't work...
Sorry fans, this complicated stuff is just annoying.
I rather make music than discover strange setup requirements.
