My mother convinced me to go busking on the streets.
Then a bystander convinced me I should also sing and collect more money that way.
When it rained I played in the pub, but someone asked if I did something else than covers?
So I started writing my own music: chords and melody, later some lyrics.
A producer (in the old sense) came along and invited me to get some recordings made.
But he wanted some more background tracks on top of just my guitar.
I had some arrangement ideas for that all along!
But just a guitar was not enough, it needed keyboards & drums as well.
So I learned to play those as well at a basic level.
It turned out that producer was just after my money, of which there was none.
But I got the taste for making recordings, so I bought a 4-track cassette deck and a mike to do my own.
Great fun ping-ponging tracks! On the way I learnt some proper sound engineering and basic mixing.
Then four tracks just did not cut it, and I bought an audio interface and switched to all digital in the box.
So I had these recordings I mixed and produced myself, and burnt them on a CD.
But they were not as loud as commercial CDs, so I learnt the hard way you had to master your tracks as well.
Some friends far away wanted to hear me play. So instead of sending them a CD I created a SoundCloud account for them to listen to.
Now I get feedback from SoundCloud I should make VIDEO myself as well!
No way, I'm not born to be a jack-of-all-trades
'Cause what I like most is just playing guitar in my room, along with the radio.
Follow me on YouTube, I'll show you how to play that Stairway to Heaven intro!
