I was just playing my guitar in my room, along with the radio.
My mother convinced me to go busking on the streets.
Then a bystander convinced me I should also sing and collect more money that way.
When it rained I played in the pub, but someone asked if I did something else than covers?
So I started writing my own music: chords and melody, later some lyrics.

A producer (in the old sense) came along and invited me to get some recordings made.
But he wanted some more background tracks on top of just my guitar.
I had some arrangement ideas for that all along!
But just a guitar was not enough, it needed keyboards & drums as well.
So I learned to play those as well at a basic level.

It turned out that producer was just after my money, of which there was none.
But I got the taste for making recordings, so I bought a 4-track cassette deck and a mike to do my own.
Great fun ping-ponging tracks! On the way I learnt some proper sound engineering and basic mixing.
Then four tracks just did not cut it, and I bought an audio interface and switched to all digital in the box.

So I had these recordings I mixed and produced myself, and burnt them on a CD.
But they were not as loud as commercial CDs, so I learnt the hard way you had to master your tracks as well.
Some friends far away wanted to hear me play. So instead of sending them a CD I created a SoundCloud account for them to listen to.

Now I get feedback from SoundCloud I should make VIDEO myself as well! :tantrum:
No way, I'm not born to be a jack-of-all-trades :nutter:
'Cause what I like most is just playing guitar in my room, along with the radio.
Follow me on YouTube, I'll show you how to play that Stairway to Heaven intro!

^ This.

OP, you need to be a schildpad.

The majority of people on this forum have been doing this for 20, 30, 40+ years and are still learning. To think you're gonna release a banger in a week is idiocy, sorry.

Forget reverb, forget compression, forget layering tracks. Focus soley on EQ and learn it inside out. Then, and only then, move onto reverb.
"I was wondering if you'd like to try Magic Mushrooms"
"Oooh I dont know. Sounds a bit scary"
"It's not scary. You just lose a sense of who you are and all that sh!t"

I never said I would be able to do that... I am just telling you all what my thoughts are on the moment...

I just want to make sure I got this step... Someone told me to keep it all under -6db and so I focused on that...

If you already have a balanced mix loudness wise then lower all faders at same time gradually till the loudest track hits -6dBFS on its peak level meter.

Here's a pretty good article on the subject of levels in your DAW:

I posted a video about it in the production section. The topic is called: My Questions about music making and the video should be in there. Just uploaded it.

Thank you will read it later. Now I had enough of it for now. You can check my video out how far I am in the Production section in a topic by me called: My Questions about music making. Let me know what you could think be improved in the mix...

You talk about the same thing in three threads.
You're not making it easy for yourself ;-)

A wonder has happend!

As I said, I downloaded the suite demo version of ableton live 10 after I tried all suggested DAWs (reaper, studio 1)
I looked at them and said, they sure look complicated, this is not gonna work. I am not in the mood to relearn all basic DAW things. Its all so easy in Ableton.
Then while laying down I suddenly thought about the demo version off Ableton, I got up and decided to install it.

So that was wonder number 1, because I actually had used it previous year already and somehow it did not show up in my bought programs list (as it does now)
So I still had a chance to use it for 30 days.

In the time before, I had written a desperate email to the ableton support mail. I explained my situation and asked if they could help me in any way. I do not know if this mail has anything to do with what happend because I did not get an answer.

Now, what happend today that made me so exited you ask? Well, I log in on ableton and think: 26 more days...
And all of a sudden it says 86 more days active. I thought this was a bug or something and went to ableton website but it says also that you can download the demo version now and is active for 90 days!!!!!

This gives me enough time to save up to be able to buy the standard version, its 279€ for me because I already have the intro version, price of further upgrades drops when you have one of them already.

So go ahead thumb it all down!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The Lord is with me on this!
