Eventually, you'll end up like the rest of us and have 10 times more synths than you need, so it's all moot in the end anyway.
Sylenth vs Serum?? please read

Another factor for the OP to consider is that you'll have a virtually unlimited supply of youtube videos to get you up and running with sound design for trance and prog house using Sylenth1. As mentioned, it was THE go-to synth for ITB dance music producers for over a decade, so there's no shortage of resources available to you once you own it. Serum is great, but I'm with those who say get Sylenth1 first and start making music, then add Serum (or whatever else fills your needs when you get there) later.

Though I like Sylenth1, I like Hive a lot too.
Here are a bunch of OSC songs made with it:

(...ahem, #25 is ok...)
Synthmaster 2 is very cool also, and it is usually on some sort of a sale.

I will take the Lord's name in vain, whenever I want. Hail Satan! And his little goblins too.

Dune 3 is better...Oh wait, Omnisphere... Hang on, Icarus 2 is better and will make everyone squelch and belchMushy Mushy wrote: Sun Mar 29, 2020 12:29 pm Just a bit of Sunday morning noodling. For those who says Sylenth sounds better than Serum, can it do this (the squelch is all I'm referring to)? It will get half way there but half way just isn't the same.

OK everyone, thank you for all of your replies. As of now I've decided to go as per my original motive and get sylenth as that can give me everything I need for my kind of production. If I ever feel the need for modern stuff, I may look to add serum in the future as I think the duo will be great. For now, thank you. Also I really love Armin Van Buuren's sound designing in his intense album, you all should check it out. Also if anyone can help me with that too, it will be cool, thanks

It wont get fully there because Sylenth is a VA and Serum is a Wavetable which is more digital.Mushy Mushy wrote: Sun Mar 29, 2020 12:29 pm Just a bit of Sunday morning noodling. Though I would bring that bass down some or add a sub bass.
Then again I am more the 138-148 Fullon kinda guy

Re the bass: yeah that was just a 0.5 second Sylenth bass just to make a loop. Same with the kick. The squelch has now been migrated into my current Forest project.
