I haven't made a full track since 1997, then I was messing about setting my keyboard and PC up again this Saturday. Started messing about at 4pm, and before I knew it, it was 10pm, I was starving and thirsty, and a track had appeared.

Taken aback by the simplicity of Man With No Name's "Axis Flip" quite recently, I had been wanting to make a trance track with a good monotone mantra feel to it by sticking to the basics and not getting too complicated with the melodies and key etc. Just concentrating on the 'feel' of the track and imagining a clearing in the woods with 400 tie-died followers bobbing up and down in unison.

I really want to make it more psy-trance, but to do that I'd have to spend a lot more time learning how to make psy-sounds. heh! I intend to make it a but more psy in the future but for now this is all I have.

Intermittent hiss caused by Sytrus demo version, but not that noticeable.

Not bad.

Needs a bit of a creschendo after the build ups, it kinda falls flat.

I cant hear a bassline, and it doesnt pump much, not very uplifting.

Like it :)

Thanks for the comments!

Kriminal: I agree on both points. I need to fill in the layers to build up more after the crescendo. I was planning to do this with more freestyle percussion type sounds. The disappearing bassline is just engineering, I didn't use any compression yet. Engineering is one thing I'm really bad at. When I say bassline, I do of course mean that one note ;)

Oh, and voice?

I appreciate the opinion but not likely ;)

Voice instantly limits the audience to speakers of that language, and it's hard to find a GOOD voice!

... and don't get me started on lyrics.

voice is eeeviill. EEEVIIILLL I say!

Like it, too :)

Works very good without voice for me. Sounds very clean and clear here, but it might have a bit too much sub bass, depending on the speakers you use.

Anyway, what do I know :D It's a good track the way it is.

Excellent track!

Definitely no voice :)

Perhaps a little bit more movement... and one or two lofi percussion elements. Think Underworld or Sven Väth's older works.

You'll get there :)

And no psy please, it'll ruin a great track :D

One of the best new things I've heard in a long time... marvellous.

Noooooo ! Stick a throat-singing shaman on your tune and it'll become real trance.
They are good at banishing evil as well, you know. :hihi:

I like the mood, but it's a bit empty production-wise. I know that's what you wanted though.
Nice muted sine-like sound and melody which plays throughout the track.

Some of the percussion sounds are a bit clear cut for my taste, but I like this. You didn't go overboard with the lead, which is a good thing. Kinda makes me think of recent Kraftwerk. I would recommend touching it up a bit, but that's me...being a fan of more instrumental music, I somehow don't feel a vocal section is completely out of the question here. Good stuff, though.
