If your goal is being future proof, including companies with no copy protected products makes sense too.

Are discoDSP synths without a copy protection? How does the installation and activation process go?discoDSP wrote: Thu Mar 26, 2020 11:08 am If your goal is being future proof, including companies with no copy protected products makes sense too.
Using: Cubase Pro 15, Reason 13, Tascam US-4x4HR, MODX6, DM12D, LaunchKey 49, Yamaha guitar(Pacifica 612v) and bass (BB234) and some virtual instruments and synths.

Bliss, Discovery and Discovery Pro installers perform online verification. But you can make the process on the same computer who did the purchase and copy the installed files to a offline computer. They will continue working after a backup or Time Machine restoration even on a new system.EnGee wrote: Thu Mar 26, 2020 12:24 pm Are discoDSP synths without a copy protection? Corona, Vertigo, Phantom, ThrillMe and the rest don't have these installers for now and no copy protection either.

Do you mean when someone buy Corona, just download a file and install it even if he/she is offline? Or is it just a dll file copy it to the VST folder? So, do I write the 4 mentioned synths/instruments with (No copy protection) note? Just to be sure.discoDSP wrote: Thu Mar 26, 2020 12:32 pm Corona, Vertigo, Phantom, ThrillMe and the rest don't have these installers for now and no copy protection either.

Right, those can be installed on a offline system. Bliss, Discovery and Discovery Pro need a online machine for installation but you can copy the DLL and data files to a offline machine later. All discoDSP plugin DLLs (or standalone/AU/VST3) don't have copy protection.EnGee wrote: Fri Mar 27, 2020 6:34 am Do you mean when someone buy Corona, just download a file and install it even if he/she is offline? No problem
No online verification for: Corona, Vertigo, OB-Xd, Phantom and ThrillMe or freeware like EQ30 and NightShine. All plugins have no copy protection, meaning DLL/VST3/AU can be moved to offline computers additional machines without any phone home system.
All Linux plugins have no copy protection (no serial, keyfile, C/R on installers or plugins). Just a installation shell script.

As a resource, since so many developers hide this information deep in their legalese and hope you won't find it until after they've locked your payment in.
EnGee, the thread is being baited IMO.

My son, these topics are not for kids. When you grow up, I promise, I will tell you
@BBFG#
Yes, some developers/companies hide these info and it's very difficult to find out. Even the demo can't tell you sometimes! So that I depend on the members info and in some cases the developers themselves.
Anyway, I think it's a good list for now. Mostly it can appear when someone google for such info.
Personally, I still have some synths and instruments that C/R or online activation, but I use mainly (if not only now!) the ones that with serial/keyfile activation (including hosts and effects).
There are however some very friendly developers and small companies that use C/R and I don't think they will disappear just like that leaving their users in the dark, but anyway, I must exclude them in spite of the very positive experiences dealing with them.
Anyway, be safe all, I thought I had the virus but the doctor told me they don't test "mild" cases, so I must wait to see if it goes or worsen. So, please moderator, just in case, please take over the first post and don't lock the thread

I appreciate this thread so much KVR search engine isn't accurate when asking for software without certain copy protections.
On a side note i have had embarrassing sessions because of those annoying copy protections unlike some here artist expect things done in a timely matter and a software going wacky can ruin your professional reputation why because it makes it look like you don't know what your doing that's why i am strongly against it.
There are people here that every time some one doesn't want wacky protection software your automatically a thief i'm going to shame you into buying my wacky software I would assume they are employees for companies that promote the wacky software pay them no mind.
Thank you engee and all the developers listed here will have my support going forward.
