Has anyone (or does anyone know if its possible) to install a full DAW, like Ableton, on a drive different than the C:drive (in this example the C drive would be the commonly used drive which contains the Program Files, operating system etc)? Or is there something that requires a DAW to be (partially) installed on the C: drive?

Thanks!

Any files that have to be on C: should be placed there by the installer.

If the installer gives you an option to install anywhere else then it shouldn’t be an issue.

IIRC Reaper and perhaps other DAW's can be run from a thumb drive or any drive.

Edit: "Can be installed and run from a portable or network drive."

I have both Cubase and Ableton Live installed on drives other than C.

Though it must be said both leave some smaller files on C. If you want 100% certainty there is no trace on C (for work etc) then that's not the case.

No that’s fine. I have about 8GB left on my C drive but I don’t want another DAW taking up a lot more of that space. So if the majority is installed somewhere else and it leaves less than 500mb on my C, that’s fine
