There are 2 rules to being a success in life: 1. Never give out all the information.

I really feel sorry for you because with this sort of mental state you defenitely won't make it much far. You may be a nice guy and all, but you certainly don't know how to express it.

I might be an asshole, but at least I know how to be one.

And now let's just finish this, it's making less than no sense.
No offense, but I didn't ask YOU OR ANYONE IN THIS THREAD to feel sorry for me. And while we're at it one last time, I will never kiss your or anyone else's ass for forgiveness to begin with. If saying sorry for using a very wrong choice of words is never going to be good enough of any of you,.....tough!!! 8)

For anything, YOU of all people need to feel sorry for prejudging me, long before I was judging you at all. :uhuhuh:

Between you and I, you don't know a damn thing about me. But that NEVER stop you to believe (in your opinions) that I'm always freaking wrong for saying what I feel when I stand up for myself, by my damn self. 8)

Deep down, you're not an asshole 24/7 (so please stop saying that). :( It just took you long enough to know that I will never try to be politically correct because I can't....and I refuse to try. Period. 8)

I agree Tony that if someone insults you then it's your right to insult them back. But in my experience if you descend to their level of trading insults it just ends up in a spiral of insults and the point of the discussion is lost.

You raised how there was a contrast between the treatment of Milli Vanilli and Ashlee Simpson. I think it's fair to say that black musicians have had a raw deal and continue to get side-lined in certain genres of music. But I also think that the reason MV got such a hard time from the media and the establishment is because they gave MV a Grammy.

When MV were exposed it made all those big guns in the music establishment look like fools and they manipulated the media to get revenge. MV had the two black front men but the whole MV team were made up of black and white musicians and producers. They all colluded in this deception in order to sell records and make money.

It's a tradegy that in the music business it takes goodlooking people (in MV's case two handsome black guys who couldn't sing) in order to sell records while the not so goodlooking (black) singers are forced to hide in the background. I'm sure there are many black and white men and women who have voices like angels but because they don't look like Ashlee S or the MV guys we may never hear their voices. Or if we do they will be hidden behind an acceptable public face.

Why we tolerate the body facism of the media is a whole different issue but I think it has now led to the Milli Vanilli and Ashlee Simpson way of promoting and selling records becoming the norm. I suppose the most obvious reason is that we enjoy and admire beauty. But who decides what is beautiful? Not all its forms are celebrated.

I've got The Nau Ensemble Chamber Orchestras version of Joy Divisions The Eternal. It's an excellent a moving interpretation of Joy Divisions music. In the sleeve notes they quote W Somerset Maugham who wrote: 'the ideal has many names, and beauty is but one of them.' Is this an idea that has been destroyed by the media and the scramble for profit or does it still exist?

The whole lip-syncing issue opens a can of worms that touches on racism, sexism and the way we are manipulated in order to sell records. :(
Case in point on why KVR is necessary:

Why waste any money on buying new music that is mostly garbage, when we can take our music technology and make better music ourselves.

Thanks for the essay. I'll remember everything that you said.

Eh, nevermind.

This is just a last word match anyway.

"I have no problem with pop singers lip-syncing. Hell, it usually beats hearing them trying and failing to hit the notes."

Vocal pitch correction is standard equipment now. It's still cheating though, but a different flavor of cheating than lip-sync.

And at the end of the day, there is nothing we can do about it.
