Yeah it is the same guy, Evolution was a decent little rompler for EDM tbh. And now I see Dancida is free, but I assume still 32bit ?

The free piano has gone :( that id love to see ported to 64bit.

But seeing as Ascension is developed by CA, that means it's in safe hands. I might pick it up now.

@DMSAdmin

Any idea when the fix for the broken MOD4 envelope will be out? It was acknowledged weeks ago.

Also a feature request to either allow proper host parameter automation (Parameters are currently visible but they don't all modulate) OR to at least add some macros.
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

Hey there - mod envelope 3/4 issue is fixed - we'll be rolling out with a few other sundry bug fixes in 1.5.1. Release date TBA.

Could you please drop us an email regarding automation issues with as much information as possible? info@ascension-vst-synthesizer.com.

Many thanks!
Peter

Hi Peter I was hoping for an eta, as you say the fix is done.

The automation values for all the mod matrix slots are visible in my host but none of them do anything. Everything that does automate has a lot of zipper noise too.

Post

Hi there,

I'm afraid I cannot give you a definite ETA. As you can may understand, we are a very small player, so rolling out an update for a single minor issue is not possible under current circumstances.

If you'd like to discus your automation issues further, please email our support address.

As always if any customers would like to get in touch please use our support email address - info@ascension-vst-synthesizer.com

Have a great weekend and stay safe everyone!

Best,
Peter

but still the DMS buy version is the only one with the 1800 additional midi files?

Post

Hi, is there any chance to see an option for the filter to be completely disabled? Not only it uses extra CPU resources when it's enabled but also, is coloring the sound.

Post

I bought it from DMS and for 25 Euros it's absolutely okay, I will use it instead of Avenger! :D

Installation worked fine, but I have some problems / questions:

I'm testing it in FL Studio 20.6.2 on a Win10 system with a current i7 CPU.

01
My "DMS Ascension" folder has 853 MB and the "Ascension 1.5 Data Library" has 5.62 GB, I don't have over 10 GB or is there another folder, too?

02
Is it possible to lock midi files, to change the preset, but keep the midi file, instead of search it again in the browser? And it would be cool, if the name of the used midi files would be visible in the arpeggiator, because some of the additional midi files from DMS are midi kits!

03
Many midi files were not named with the scale. Of course, it's possible to analyze them in the Midi Player, because there the tones are displayed, and after drag and drop in the DAW, too. But if you want combine severals midis, it nerves, because transpose is only possible after drag and drop in the DAW and this is just a "One Layer Synth".

04
In the browser, I can only use "Presets" and "MIDI" but the "Samples" folder is greyed?

05
The moving light from the arpeggiator sometimes doesn't run tight in the "Pattern Mode". it misses sometimes the first tone. You can here the first tone, but in some presets it seems the first run has a latency, too. I tried with fixed buffer size setting in my DAW Wrapper, but it's the same.

06
I made a DAW template with two instances of Ascension and saved it. If I load it fresh, Ascension plays the arpeggiator only in "Pattern Mode", instead of play the midi file, which was saved before! That only happens, if I save the instances minimzed in my template. Maximizing solves it and the arp automatically plays the saved midi file fine.

05 and 06 could be a problem between Ascension and the FL Studio Wrapper!

07
Some presets are MUCH louder than others, my neighbours will love that! :D

I bought it on sale,I’m not really wowed by anything except how many patches are too f**king loud. Like clipping loud. The only thing I really like is the layout.

It says 6 GB ROM on the Ascension webpage, where is it saying 10 GB?

There is only the 6 GB Rom listed, but they can't decide how much presets it has.

On one page is written:

With 4 powerful, FM enabled oscillators you can choose any mixture of subtractive, wavetable synthesis and a huge 6 GB ROM sound library along with over 1500 presets and 1300 wavetables.

but on the full feature list there is written:

• Over 1200 Presets Included.

Really tidy! :D

This is a CPU hog too, Sounds fine, nothing ground breaking, but for what it is, it needs less CPU use, even on low settings, its still far too heavy on the CPU. 30-40% on a patch for an ARP is ridiculous. I am wondering, is there an optimization difference between VST 2 and VST 3 ? I installed the VST3 version and it's as I described, but I wonder if the VST2 is less CPU crazy ? I remember Cubic Audios evolution ROMpler, that wasnt as CPU crazy at all, wondering what went wrong here.

Yes, it needs really much CPU. My test track has two instances and if I reduce release to 0 and deactivate the FX it still need 25 % for two standard unison patches.

To compare:

I'm working on another song with 4 x Dune3, 4 x Nexus and 1 x Sylenth layered in the main part with much unison and FX. At that part of the song the CPU use is 22%.

I'm working with a current Intel Core i7 system and Win10
