Didn't know till I read this.

:(
NOW who do I send my demo's to?

One of a kind. This guy helped me appreciate a broader spectrum of music and I loved to listen to him speak.

Big loss to the entire Brit music scene. :(

A long time hero of mine.
A celeb of a different calibre.

Bad news.

This man was the only hero I ever had, and now I'm trying not to cry in the middle of a busy clinic.

A great loss.

I had the pleasure of meeting him once, albeit briefly. He was also the only guy on radio who ever played anything I asked for, and actually bothered taking the time to reply to e-mails. And quite apart from the music, I found him incredibly funny - a bone dry wit, and a lovely humane guy. Not fair.

I think, because I've grown up listening to John Peel ALL my adult life, it's just bizarre to think that he won't be there playing the most strange music you ever did hear on the radio.
Stuff that no-one else ever did, and I doubt ever will, play.

Can't quite accept it. :(

Yes very funny guy, his appearance on Room 101 was damn good.

I feel exactly the same.

Forget silence - I propose a minute's raging noisy music in tribute.

Possibly played at the wrong speed.

Damn this is sad news. I think I got a big chunk of my music taste from that man's show.

There's a page on his Radio 1 mini-site set up for anyone who wishes to leave a tribute - here.
