Hi Folks,
This may have been covered somewhere else, but I ran the latest update the other day, and today when I went to load some sounds (brass, as it turn out) the instantly crashed my host (Chainer).
Is this a know issues? IS there a fix in the works? Never had the problem before intalling the update.
Look forward to comments.
Thanks,
Dan Lewis

Please be more specific about the sounds that are crashing for you. Which library are they from (ST2 XL?) what are the exact names of the patches that are crashing.
Generally, we don't use this forum as a tech support forum for IK (for SR sounds it is ok though). However, if anyone is going to post something like this then at least give some information one can check on. This info is way too vague and unsubstantiated. What system do you have? What library is it? What is the name of the sound that is crashing?
To be honest, this is why it is always best to just contact IK tech support because they can troubleshoot with you and figure it out since a lot of times it isn't a bug and is just something in the users particular set up. But, since you brought it up I am at least curious myself to know which sound you are talking about.

Hi Squids,
I have seen many general Sample Tank problems posted here, so I was not aware it was a breech of etiquette.
My system:
P4 2.2
1 gig RAM
Here is what happens:
1. I launch Chainer, and open an instance of ST2 XL
2. When I load: "Cresc-Sust Vels Brass" and "Crescendo Brass Section" Chainer crashes instantly.
3. I tried to re-list sounds, and tried re-booting a few times. Still happens every time.

Thanks. I wasn't being critical, I was just bringing up a common request we have. In the SR forum we can fully support SR products and we can talk a bit about the formats we support, one of the main ones (relating to KVR) being SampleTank. However, if we're going to talk about any issues which I don't necessarily like to get into unless we're talking about SR sounds for ST2 then at least having some info like you just provided to go by gives it usefulness.
I assume you mean this is from the XL library (because you can launch one instance of ST2 XL and load other sounds from other libraries... but since you didn't mention any other libraries I guess we're talking XL's library).
Okay, this at least sounds like it could be some kind of bug. I did hear about another patch having the same problem. A sax patch. So, it could be a bug perhaps. If so I am sure it will be fixed. However, still the best thing to do is to troubleshoot with IK tech support or at least inform them of the problem. Posting it here just tells us sound developers about it. However, if it isn't an SR sound issue then there's not much we can do about it. I will try to test it out myself this week just to see if I have the same problem and also send a report just to confirm any issues it may possibly have.
Thanks.

Hey Squids,
No problem - you are one of the really good guys here, so I did not assume you were bing critical.
Yep - I have ST2 XL (sorry if I did not make that clear).
I'll send something to IK support.
All the best,
Dan

"prosounds"??? I assume it's an Akai library? Anyway, that sound probably has something about it that is incompatible with ST I would assume.topaz wrote:Prosounds Classical Orchestra VOL1

Please note I have adressed this to Jason but wanted to point out anyhow:
I am unable to stably open any ST2 bearing FruityLoops projects with the latest ST2 vs 2.08. I had to roll back to vs 2.06 to run these projects . NB even the the most recent version is problematic. Has anyone else seen this?

One quick way to solve the crashing when loading certain sounds is to LOCK the effects before loading the sound that seems to crash. We are looking into this now and it will be fixed.
