strictly for 'manipulation' as op asked, I would say it's excellent. It has samplers and loads of effects, instrument and drum racks etc... ( and even max should you want to go down that rabbit hole).
For electronic music, it's one of the best, if not 'the best' daw. imo.
edit: talking about Ableton : )

ive never tried reaper or bitwig.
i did think about trying bitwig, but didnt get around to it :shrug:
