This is the same method MJ used when he was working on Anthony Marinelli's Thriller.

And he's been doing the Patreon thing for how long again? Exactly.boydell200 wrote: Mon Apr 13, 2020 2:52 pm The amount of time and money this guy must have spent obtaining the gear, researching, modelling, testing, drawing etc etc... to get just ONE plugin to work and he gives them away... This thread must absolutely stay because the dude has a very dodgy recent history of deceit and manipulation and stone cold lying. Even on this very discussion it's really interesting that a couple of random new posters would just pop up like that and defend him (and one gets banned already). I'm talking about his audio software ventures so it's nothing personal and he may well have been a successful and honest hardware engineer for many years. But when it comes to plugins and KVR, people have the right to know about the very recent past until he proves he can stabilize and hold down an honest venture for more than a couple of months.

trust me a mod is following this thread (as well as many others), like another mentioned people have been banned in this thread...not because of their comments but because they create different accounts to respond...I cant help but notice you just signed up to join this thread (you kinda even say thatboydell200 wrote: Mon Apr 13, 2020 2:52 pm I honestly can't believe this thread. The forum mods should force this thread to close or change the title to something neutral because it's not fair this comes up high on google when it's a mix of people defending him and just being trolls basically..
The amount of time and money this guy must have spent obtaining the gear, researching, modelling, testing, drawing etc etc... to get just ONE plugin to work and he gives them away... GIVES. THEM. AWAY. You can see how much money he makes because it says in Patreon, this is not a day job for him. And yet... his plugins are ridulously good sounding. They are better than most of the competition.
I feel the need to repeat this.. if you don't like his FREE plugin of a Sta-level because the gain structure isn't PERFECT or it's meter doesn't tell you how to mix blind then a) tell him privately b) post positive advice or c) go and spend £3000 on a real one.
Make a plugin yourself if you are so great. f**k me. Trolls![]()

I joined the AO Patreon, for a tiny amount, because it seemed like a good variety of interesting, useful stuff, and figured if I felt enthusiastic about them I'd bump it up later. But for a wide assortment of plugins as donationware I just felt like doing it. And some people's posts of negative experiences previously aren't enough to make me avoid, because who knows, and it seemed like they were trying a fresh new start. Downloaded them and haven't put any through real paces, just a very cursory checking of a few. But I have to say, I find that exchange on the Reaper forum, from a little more than three years ago, to be extremely swaying. Like Rockatansky says, I don't wish bad on anyone trying to do something, especially someone I don't know anything about. But most of the casual posters in the JSFX section at the forum have more than three years experience with DSP and coding. Again, I don't want to sound a personal alarm and warn people off. Not in the least. I don't know enough about AO and haven't worked with the plugins enough to. But it bums me out, though it is the kind of thing I would want to know about when financially supporting a plugin that I'm trying to predict its value to me.Robert Randolph wrote: Fri Aug 10, 2018 7:31 pmhttps://forum.cockos.com/showthread.php?t=187290Rockatansky wrote:Can't say I'm happy about this, but I'm also not surprised or super sad. I did wonder how such clunky software could remain so well perceived without any backlash for such a long time. Don't know Tunca/Ridvan in person and never had to deal with him much, except in a few posts, so it's not like I really have anything against the guy. But wow, the things I saw him ask in the DSP forum, or over at the Cockos/IPlug/WDL forum... Heavy stuff. I don't wish him anything bad, but I think the path he was heading down wasn't the right one. Now I'm just curious to see who would be interested in "buying the AO heritage", rather than building up something of their own.
Heavy stuff... Somehow can write analog modelled eqs but cant mak a very simple compressor work.

I was under the impression that dude rehabilitated himself after he basically started giving away his entire range of plugins for free on Patreon?
I never tried any of them, since I'm already covered in the EQ and compressor department.
But it seemed recently people where quite satisfied with his products. So what sparked the latest controversy?

SInce the 'reboot' i am enjoying the AO plugins very much. Not all are without bugs (although the dev is updating them in a quick pace and actually fixes a lot of bugs doing so), but they became a part of my mixing progress quite quickly. Personally, very happy with the reboot.

The last few comments alone in this thread have persuaded me to give AO another shot. I'll post back after some time with them.
