No... though the developer said he wants to add it... but who knows when.

Also no midi support of any kind. You cannot play notes.
But because its a totally different granular tool.
Its not a load a sample and play it on a keyboard type of granular and never will be i think but its one of the most unique granular sound design tools. I like it 100 times more than something like Crusher X which i find totally unmusical.
It's not a problem for me... I have more than enough tools to play midi notes using granular synthesis. People should know though what it is and what it isn't.

I haven't tried moving audio on and off my iPad Pro to my laptop for use in my DAW. That may end up being a frustrating process, but in and of itself, Borderlands 2.1 is easily to most fun and useful granular synth I have used.
Depends on your OS. From iOS to mac is more easy of course and no tools/hardware needed.
Half of the apps i have for iOS are better than all i have on my mac now.
I really wish there would be a full DAW like Logic for iPads and so i finally could ditch my macbook. I mean its already possible to do everything on an iPad but i still need Logic. Otherwise i guess iPads are my personal future for music creation.

Thanks for the reply... What is the best way to send recorded audio from my iPad to my Mac?

Also, is it possible to add some reverb to the output of Borderlands inside the iPad Pro? If so, How would one do that?

Depending on your DAW you could direct record the iPad output into your DAW in your laptop and use your FX there too.
If you have recorded audio on your iPad Airdrop is the most easy and fast way without a cable.
Of course you can use a reverb on your iPad as well after Borderlands. Fac Alteza or Blackhole is really good on iOS f.e.
Depends of course what apps/DAWs you have on iOS.
Since Borderlands is still no AUv3 something like Audiobus or AUM f.e. let you just record the audio trough an FX channel.
In general you can do mainly everything you can do on your laptop, sometimes it needs a workaround, sometimes there are even better ways on iOS.
In general i could recommend you the Audiobus forum for everything about iOS. KVR and most other music forums are not the besr place to looking for iOS things.

Thanks... last night I figured out that I needed AUM and bought it and got it working. The hardest part was realizing that in Borderlands there is a play in background option in preferences that needs to be enabled. Once I stumbled upon that, the rest was easy.

And yeah... Garageband is too limited as a full DAW for lots of reasons. Only 3 possible time signatures, no time signature automation, don't see a tempo track, but maybe that is there, midi editing is poor and lots of other basics missing from Logic. I would also like to see Logic brought to iOS.

Cubasis 3 has too many negative reviews. The recent Auria Pro reviews are also not good. Both of those are expensive enough that it would be annoying to buy them and not be happy with the purchase.

I doubt I would switch to iPad instead of my Mac, but it is fun to have a small portable studio that I enjoy using while traveling and I can also use the iPad Pro as a hardware synth with Borderlands

I prefer NanoStudio 2. It still sadly has no audio tracks but a great included very versatile synth, lots of time signatures and also let you use different time signatures within a project.
It even has a better group/layer feature as Logic. Like Bitwig more.
If this gets audio tracks its almost there for me.
But i already use iOS apps since many years for music and did even full albums on my iPhone 4 on a 3.5“ screen. But now i have no patience and getting older. So yeah, my macbook is still my workstation but i could imagine replacing it one day with a large iPad. Maybe in 2021?

NanoStudio 2 looks pretty good... but no audio tracks? That's too much of a limitation... and couldn't bring Borderlands recordings into it... or maybe it would be possible using some sort of Sampler workaround?

Seems there isn't an iOS DAW yet that's just it.

Apple has no financial concern with selling Logic cheap on iPad. They can make the full app and it would not hurt their bottom line. Logic seems like the best chance to have a truly full featured DAW on iOS.

You can use samples in NS2 slate instruments (so something like drum pads which trigger samples). BeatMaker 3 might do audio and midi.
Cubasis is nice, Auria Pro might be the most powerful but also shows that a desktop like DAW does not work well on an iPad maybe.
Yes, i also find no single iOS DAW for all but the nice thing with Audiobus or AUM is that its easy to record the output of several DAWs at once without fancy connection workarounds. Connecting DAWs on iOS is more easy and faster for me than on mac.
But at the end i still prefer smaller projects on iOS or also use it like an extern hardware synth/sampler/midi controller and record audio and midi direct into Logic.

Is there a limit to how long a sample you can trigger via an instrument like that?

Not sure but i think it could be more than an hour if you like.

That could work... not ideal... but hey

Thanks...

I tried Nanostudio 2 but I couldn't get the MPE keyboard in the Magellan synth to record midi in NS2. Magellan2 keyboard just worked in GarageBand.

I'm happy with some of the individual apps. Borderlands is great for example. For the DAW however, it's just not there. I haven't tried Cubasis 3, but there are lots of reports of bugs and crashing so I am hesitant to spend more just to try it out. Otherwise GarageBand seems like the best option currently available.
