Welcome! It is (generally) pretty fun here, and some legendary arguments can be had too (especially with a... select handful of people). Hang around, though, and you will learn a lot. I can legitimately say that for a number of specific areas of music, I learned how to do it through browsing threads on here and trying out what was suggested. Definitely don't discount the search - it's incredible how many things I thought were beyond obscure ended up having multiple threads already...

I'll jump in and introduce myself too. I have been trying to learn music making during the lockdown as well, but mostly focusing on software as unfortunately I don't have much space for hardware. I live in the Durham, North Carolina area. I've interacted with several folks here while buying software, and everyone has been extremely nice and helpful!
