Anyone know any phase shift plugins like the voxengo PHA-979? I'd like to know what alternatives there are before I go for that one.
thanks!

I'm afraid you have no choice. But rest assured that the one mentioned is most likely the best even if there were alternatives.

Ultrafunk had/has one which is now part of the Ultrafunk/Cakewalk bundle if I'm not mistaken. Too bad you can't just buy it by itself anymore...

The biggest baddest Phaser of all time has to be Smart Electronix's Supa Phaser by Bram. He'd like a couple of bucks in donationware - but it's well worth it. Check out the Smart forum below for more info.

What Raven's looking for is a phase-shifter, which differs slightly from the better know effect called a phaser, although one is essentially just part of the other.Steven West wrote:The biggest baddest Phaser of all time has to be Smart Electronix's Supa Phaser by Bram. A Phase-shifter simply applies a shift of phase in the incoming material. Useful for fixing extreme timing/phase problems and narrowing some stereo material.
A 'phaser' is the better known effect, which also applies a phase shift, but modulates it, and mixes it with the original signal, to produce that effect we love
sorry if i'm being pedantic

Not phasers, phase shifters
.
I thought you could do this in most host by itself and never saw a need for a plugin like this. I think in Cubase you can adjust the audio latency for individual tracks.
...Unless the Voxengo plug will automatically match the phase of two different tracks, but I don't think so. Oh! found something that might work like I mentioned: http://www.rogernichols.com/EQ/vocalign.html

Here some phase shifter:

although the other plug-in of mgaudio (mgTriggerGate) is so much better but you wanted phase shifter - phase shifter you get!

i guess this is not the same processing as the Voxengo one.scamme wrote:Here some phase shifter:

What i understood is that for the Voxengo plugin, the phase of all the frequencies is shifted of the same amount, like 90 degrees for example
With the mgaudio one, the phase of the entire signal is shifted, but each frequency is shifted with a different amount.
If you shift your signal by 10ms, for example, you will have a 90° phase shift at a certain low frequency, but this will be a bigger shift for higher frequencies, like 720°, for example.

Delaying a signal does no introduce a constant phase shift along the spectrum. If you delay it for instance 1ms you have phase shifted the signal 360º at 1KHz, but you only phase shift it 90º at 250Hz. And 720º at 2KHz. Etc.ChumpitO wrote:Not phasers, phase shifters.
