This is an old problem I could never understood and fix, so I try to post it here too in the hope of having more luck...

On my otherwise perfectly working setup (win7 x64 i7) everytime I load an instance of Sforzando or Alter Ego my system remains blocked for about one minute, which is very frustrating. Last year I asked for support by Plogue to whom I also sent the aria engine log but they at the end could not help. Strangely enough the sfz sampler TX16W which I tried to download moved by desperation has the very same issue! I suspect it is using the aria engine too at this point ..? After the one minute waiting everything works fine though. Since my daw is blocked in the firewall for security reasons I even suspect that the aria engine tries to connect to the internet for some obscure reason (how can I check that btw ?) and the wait is perhaps a timeout before giving up with the inet connection... dunno. I would really like if somebody could help here, being pretty frustrating having to wait one minute or more everytime I must work at a project using .sfz samples. I am using Reaper but that doesn't matter, since the standalone version of Sforzando has the same problem as the vst so I am almost sure it is something related to aria engine initialization. But at Plogue they could not help as I said... thanks for any suggestion

Loading large instruments, like Garritan CFX, into ARIA can take a while. So if it takes that long to load instruments, especially larger ones, the answer is to store the samples on a fast SSD and have lots of RAM. If it takes that long to just open an empty instance without loading any instruments, well, that would be unusual...

No!

The TX16W uses a different engine. If you have long loading times
in Sforzando AND in TX16X the loading time is most probably caused
by too large and extensive libraries.

Have you tried to load a small library - just as a test?

Update. Nope, those about having long samples is just one of those prejudices. My suspect was right: it needed internet connection! Is aria a spyware ?

Mmh? I use Sforzando for many years - always without internet-connection,
and it always loads instantly. So there must be something different going
on your side.
