Yeah and Drum machine designer is really flakey, moving samples around, setting up and getting a working multi output on it is inconsistent. It has some serious issues.

For a company that concentrates so much on perfection I can see why many pick up on the clear outliers like EXS24 and the like.

Oh and the Logic loop browser is dogshhit too.

Like if you're browsing short samples like one shots with the arrow keys for convenience for the auto preview, as soon as the one shot finishes it'll stop the browser from auto playing any more via arrow keys down or up, forcing you to MOUSE click on the next one to reinitialise the preview engine. Longer loop auto previewing is fine as you can skip down to the next before preview is over but on things like high-hats where they are over in half a second or less it's seriously frustrating.

I've just taken advantage of the 30% off Ableton suite, not my first Rodeo with Live but hey that's how you do loop browsing and auto-previews. That new assigning samples or entire folders to colour tags and being able to rename them is god like for a sample browser.

Makes more sense as something to include in mainstage. Or maybe something you can export to logic from mainstage. Mainstage is more geared towards live performance.

MainStage always seemed more geared towards keyboard players. If Apple is going to add this feature they really need to do something about controller support. Dollars to donuts the Logic Remote App for the iPad will let you launch clips and stuff.

I was on Live since V4 and then at 9 just got bored with it so bought LPX, not having used Logic since my PC days. I've rarely been back to Live since as Logic is just so nice to work in except for the whole loops thing which is shite compared to Live. Luckily I have Geist 2 so I work within it for audio previews and/or composition when using Logic. Hopefully Apple step up their game a bit.

In other news, Logic and Geist 2 is a great combo.

You would think that Logic 10.0.0 would be all retina ready by the time it took them, but it's not even now, their development is all over the place and they can get with it, they bought all the time with free updates, you look ungrateful when you don't like what you got for free, but in other hand you get whatever they can give you and whenever they can, you payed for software as it was and they only have moral obligation to make sure it works on your system, everything else is bonus, still there's decades of bugs there and you look ungrateful when you point them out or expect for them to fix those, one of those Apple things.

No, you can point them out. But be prepared for someone else to point out how many bugs have actually been fixed with each and every single update. It's not like they're sitting on their hands all day, the bug fix lists have been gigantically long. And from reading them, it looked like they were really cleaning house, addressing bugs in even the most remote features.

What they have to have done is 'refactor' the code so it is more easily maintained and can be tested automatically in order to avoid regression (bug fixes breaking stuff that was working). Also, they must be in the process of exchanging outdated legacy technology or rewriting those parts (like the Pro Apps framework) in order to comply with where Mac OS is headed.

Also, they must have rewritten a lot of legacy code at the very heart of the app, extending multitasking to be able to address all cores and hyper threading in the high end Mac Pro configuration.

The issues you're seeing which haven't been fixed, yet, must either be unknown to the team or have low priority compared to the stuff they are fixing. So... are you sending them bug reports?

they're well aware its what sells macs tho.
If it weren't for logic i'm not sure i'd keep at it.

and having a competitors DAW be retina ready FIRST is just ridiculous. they had in-house info and access to prototypes to launch logic X fully retinized in 2012 with the first retina macbook.

The hold up is Apple management’s focus on iPhones, luxury products, and how they contribute to the bottom line and stock prices.
