hey guys, sorry another ableton topic but in LITE i cannot test this and i can remember someone showed me this function a few years back and it was pretty spot on.

e.g. how good is ableton spot on on melodies, music notes etc.?

i have to check bitwig out again for that too.

Live's infinitely better in this regard. Bitwig doesn't have this at all

Thx!!!! Thats why i couldnt find it. I also checked on youtube. Thought i might be too stupid. Hmmmmm this makes live more interesting. Did you try yourself some samples and songs to test the outcome? I want to use it to sometimes find out notes (i know i also learn to find them myself but maybe im not talented lol)

I recently had a success recording myself with a mic and then converting to MIDI just the melody I had in my head. It's a gamechanger!

As to loops, I've had some fun deconstructing percussion into clouds of notes, but it's hit or miss creative effect. Certainly won't get you far from a full, mixed track.

I only toyed with it shortly after I bought Live and it worked quite reliably if the source was clean and the melody or chords were not very ambiguous. I don't think it will work well with full 'songs'. You need to have either melody, chord progression or drums alone and choose the right option to match.
