We're talking about Ableton, not Bitwig.dreamstate42 wrote: Sat Apr 18, 2020 11:15 amI haven't found a way to zoom a track vertically (track height) with mousewheel yet, but maybe I'm too dumb (or it's different on macOS than on Windows).
Horizontal zoom does however work with Shift + Ctrl / Alt + Ctrl, scrolling horizontally works with Shift / Alt.
3.2 (Beta 1) is OUT!!!

You can increase the Midtones/Blacklevel if you don't like the colors to pop so much though, i do, go figure *tyyyypical.antic604 wrote: Sat Apr 18, 2020 11:58 amThe puke-inducing colours are not, though.
And I really enjoy working in Live again! Just started a new project and it's a lot of fun, even though I do miss modulators, some basic splitter tools, easy bouncing... Gotta explore those M4L options, i.e. Modulat.
I'm a visually-oriented person and I appreciate that Live (or S1, too) only "allows" colour to the tracks & clips, while everything else is limited to those same 4-5 colours / shades. Bitwig already in 3.1 added some weird phosphorescent hues (outside of the regular palette) to some devices, nesting brackets and displays. Now with those rainbows it looks like clown in a circusI wonder if there was some change in dev team responsible for the design? Because it's been going downhill lately, with seemingly random changes to some devices, while others are completely forgotten - e.g. why Compressor and Peak Limiter, but not Dynamics? Why mid/side splitter, but not multiband-3? Why FM-4 but not Polysynth? Live also has this (especially the AAS devices stand out in bad way) but it's been on the market for 20 years, not 6! And they still try: Wavetable, The Echo, Drum Buss, LFO/Shaper/Env.Follower. They recently combined Simple and Ping Pong Delays into just ...Delay, to reduce the clutter. Even f**king Utility looks great now, with some design flair and consistency. Bitwig? Just have a look at what they did to Tool in 3.2 beta. It's just lazy and uninspired...
I'm obviously staying since I was stupid enough to activate both upgrade plans I bought for cheap, but I don't think I'll renew it anymore unless there's some fundamental shift in their priorities and direction.
Guess they can add more options there, like making the BG dark with bright gridlines as an option?
But i have no clue how hard stuff like that is to implement in reality, make a FR is easy and everything is dev'time
You wont get a million bucks for Bitwig anyway, just keep it and upgrade when you feel like it, that is a tad cheaper.

Can anyone compare DSP display in 3.1 and 3.2?
Previously both the tiny indicator and the pop-up one were showing the same thing. Now the small one is at 2/3 - 3/4 (as I'd expect for this project in 3.1) and it would be the same in pop-up. In 3.2 the pop-up shows 1/3, which is actually close to what Task Manager shows (25-30%). Has there been any change to this?

You could argue that all of those things are non-essential for the vast majority of musicians.SLiC wrote: Sat Apr 18, 2020 12:36 pm….MPE, smart collections, pop up browser, in clip editing, clips and arranger on the same screen, hybrid tracks, smart tool....antic604 wrote: Sat Apr 18, 2020 11:58 am

My bad. Yes for Ableton with a mouse and mousewheel it's the same modifiers as the ones you mentioned, plus Shift + mousewheel for horizontal scrolling.
Frequently changing DAW of choice...

1) I can't play instruments to save my life, not to mention with any expression
2) Never used smart collections; I know what I need and just type it in the search box
3) How often do you add new stuff to project? Again, I don't mind just typing in what I need
4) Not working with audio and Live can edit MIDI in Session View, so not an issue for me
5) There's workaround (dual screen), but even if there wasn't - how often does one really use it? I work either here or there and only at one point in the project I move stuff from Clip Launcher to Arranger (and in Live I'm compelled to actually use Push2, so I can record on the fly)
6) Hybrid tracks are great on paper, but in practice I never used them
7) Live's pointer tool isn't any less smarter
The only thing I miss are modulators, really.

and missed the custom shortkeys too

Hey man I’m really sorry you feel disappointed by this update. It hits me hard because you are typically really enthusiastic about Bitwig.
I can why it was very time consuming because good eq is nontrivial, but at the same time did we really need that? I do like the sound of the new grid filters though. They have a vaguely Zebra2 sound to me which I very much like. The resonance is nice and crisp.

You can kinda sorta add devices to mixer via options.txt:

I'm old so come from a 'record to tape background' and I almost always compose on guitar and acoustic piano and hardy ever use quantise so to me its also a 'non-essential'...I suspect other would think it is. You could defiantly argue that all DAWS are non-essential for the vast majority of 'musicians' the old adage in the studio use to be if you can't play it live you are a producer, not a musicianKongru wrote: Sat Apr 18, 2020 12:54 pmYou could argue that all of those things are non-essential for the vast majority of musicians.SLiC wrote: Sat Apr 18, 2020 12:36 pm….MPE, smart collections, pop up browser, in clip editing, clips and arranger on the same screen, hybrid tracks, smart tool....antic604 wrote: Sat Apr 18, 2020 11:58 am

For me, Bitwig has one main function, experimental sound design and it is mainly used to drive my Eurorack with CV over expert sleepers hardware- I also love MPE (probably as I am a guitarist and miss the expression on keys) and have Roli, Sensel and e-touché MPE controllers (with an Osmose on order) so my needs and priorities are probably different to most, and the stuff I make with modular and Bitwig is not (according to my kids) 'propper' music

fun fact, the windows of the VSTs can be closed with the toggle shortkey the Bitwig ones aren't

try to open/close an eq from the mixer view with the shortkey after clicked on it ...
