apoclypse wrote: Sat Apr 18, 2020 5:24 pmCan you really blame Apple though. Even when Logic was still selling at $599 or whatever it was it was not making any real money for Apple. It's not like Apple has poured resources into the application over the years. There were major changes between 6-7, then 8-9. X wasn't a home run but even you have to admit that the app has been updated on regular basis yearly sometimes even twice a year for free and some of those changes have been pretty major. What other DAW maker out there is giving free major version style updates for close to decade? Can it be better sure. I moved away from Logic myself because it was just too buggy when LPX came out and at this point I'm used to S1. But if anything Logic keeps all the DAW makers on their toes because not only is it the best bang for buck DAW on the market, every now and then Apple will throw a haymaker into the industry.Jace-BeOS wrote: Sat Apr 18, 2020 3:13 pmI don’t know if you’re including me in this critique, but I feel the same: Logic is the best DAW for me.Cinebient wrote: Sat Apr 18, 2020 12:20 pm It is more strange that people often (yes i might suffer myself sometimes) get really emotional about these things and still have to say things in every thread.
If you really find a company is the devil and hate all they do, no one force you to use it. But many people seems to are on a kind of religion war to prove other people wrong and teach them their view of the world.
Whatever. Logic, best DAW ever for me. No other DAW comes with more content but yeah, Its all just the devils masterplan![]()
I’m just sick of Apple’s MBA-mindset leadership squandering resources and potential on existing core products, all because of the uncommon (and eventually flattening) crazy success of iPhones. I’m sick of luxury/plutocrat-style products & prices.
I’m sick of Apple diversifying into areas that have nothing to do with computing.
The company that won me over in 2007 seems mostly to not exist any more, and that’s because the people who made it the company it was back then are now gone or in different roles.
I get mad because I care.![]()
Even though Logic is no longer my main DAW, I still appreciate it being there on the macOS platform as the gold standard of DAWs for price and performance.

Not financially, doing well in context to what we're talking about, frequent updates and improvements that add value to the customers. Context is everything here. Reaper is updated at a decent rate for being only a few people without the kind of financial power that Apple has. The point being that money isn't really the factor there.masterhiggins wrote: Sat Apr 18, 2020 5:20 pmK now THAT is conjecture. What counts as doing well? Development goals and financial feasibility are huge factors. A lot of products seem like they’re doing well by popularity only to be discontinued shortly thereafter. FM8 and Kore were extremely popular but NI axed them. Cubase is very popular, but the frequent rate they feel compelled to charge for updates suggests that their business model consists of tiny margins (or is at least very poorly thought-out). At a consumer level we don’t have an accurate record of how well they’re really doing other than vocal proponents in forums or marketing efforts.machinesworking wrote:I think it's obvious seeing Reaper do as well as it does (along with every other DAW not attached to Apple, Avid, Yamaha etc. like DP, Traction, FL Studio etc.) that it's more complex than that.
I thin people read too much into things, speculating about company infrastructure, adding in rumors, making assumptions about how easy it is to implement a feature in a particular DAW, basically doing a lot of straw man arguments.
It also has to be noted this happens every time it's been a while since a big update or upgrade. The Ableton forums were always super tense when it'd been years. A major update or upgrade is obviously right around the corner, but yes, let's all be prepared to be disappointed and air our disappointments about a product we use... if you really think about it, it's weird.

However, I'm quite satisfied with Logic.
It does what I want in a way I understand.
It still offers (after 10 years using it) new areas to discover for me.
It's my best music software investment ever.

Correct.
I’ve explained where I gathered my impressions. If you don’t accept an impression based the sources I’ve mentioned, that’s fine. If you hate “the media”, you’ve got an issue I cannot help, nor do I have the inclination to try. I’m not going down this path of argumentation with you.
It’s not required to personally know Apple employees when journalists have verified their sources, especially when what they say is consistently aligned with the statements of countless other named & unnamed sources.

In that case, I expect a major Logic update with a simultaneous Logic iOS release this week!Cinebient wrote: Sat Apr 18, 2020 9:20 pm Logic is mostly at the very top here in the mac app store for payed apps.
Not sure but maybe they make more money with it as some might thought.

Dream on....but i would like that, especially an iOS version. But that might years away. First GarageBand updates, then Mainstage on iOS and then maybe a stripped down Logic?pdxindy wrote: Sat Apr 18, 2020 11:46 pmIn that case, I expect a major Logic update with a simultaneous Logic iOS release this week!Cinebient wrote: Sat Apr 18, 2020 9:20 pm Logic is mostly at the very top here in the mac app store for payed apps.

But who knows, maybe that is the reason it take so long.
Whatever, i hope the loop thing is not the main new feature. While its nice i hope for kind of Alchemy v3, Sculpture v2, ES3 and big updates to EXS24 and Ultrabeat.
Maybe something new on top.
