Planned obsolescence for fat shareholders.
But Catalina still runs on my 6 years old macbook. No one force you to buy a new mac.
I get the critic and also think Apple could do some things better but most of the things people say about Apple are a bit dramatized.
Their iOS devices indeed has a shorter lifetime compared to that but also no one hold a gun at your head to upgrade your OS.

Not sure but maybe they make more money with it as some might thought.
In that case, I expect a major Logic update with a simultaneous Logic iOS release this week!
Dream on....but i would like that, especially an iOS version. But that might years away. First GarageBand updates, then Mainstage on iOS and then maybe a stripped down Logic?
But who knows, maybe that is the reason it take so long.
Whatever, i hope the loop thing is not the main new feature. While its nice i hope for kind of Alchemy v3, Sculpture v2, ES3 and big updates to EXS24 and Ultrabeat.
Maybe something new on top.
I would like to see you as Logic Pro development manager.
Have some spare time for this job?

If they make me a 6 figure offer :hihi:
But indeed i still go to work as usual, even make extra hours. I did not expect it and was ready for staying home for a while but nothing changed so far for me. I have anyway not much social contact. So not much has changed really for me.

My eight-year-old Macbook is also Catalina-ready

We need a Logic 32 bit version. Sorry, could not resist.

I still have my Logic 7, 8 & 9 discs, somewhere. Still have the L7 key/dongle, also :tu:

Logic Pro is able to reap a wit into bits of cubes in one studio with its reasonable pro tools.

Little off topic, but found this interesting video

This remix contains about 3 to 5 audio snippets or so from the original recordings, like vocals or piano - so all synths, drums & fx are live AU instruments.
Not a single track is frozen and as one can see the CPU meter ranges about just above half at all times. No dreaded bursts at all.

When I open this song in Logic 9 one on my Mac Pro 3,1, which by benchmarks should have about triple the G5's power, it will use about three quarters of CPU. Yes - MORE CPU than the 2005 G5.

Latest Logic X however would not play it at all - it stops immediately after hitting Play.

Catalina runs on a 2012 15" MacBook Pro i gave to my gf last year.
that's an 8 year old computer.
Not only that, it works absolutely fine - just as good as my 2018 13". They replaced the screen in recall, they gave me a free battery on it (because i had to wait for the part) all well over warranty.

Catalina even works on 2012 Mac Pro towers if you update the GPU's.
Frankly, any older than 2012 macs will have a very hard time running latest software...

Yeah, but using 3 apple loops sounds the same and is more cpu efficient :D
But no joke, i often wonder why anyone would need so many tracks for this. I heard more complex sounding tracks with under 10. So it might be waste of cpu anyway.
But at least we can now run 1000 Logic tracks.

It's not about complexity really, it's about actual layers, there's ~10 tracks doing only drums, you can have it all on one track or one loop, but it's easier to mix it on separate tracks, dunno, everything adds up, there's almost never just one vocal, fx or whatever track, try to make this kind of music and you will see, that's the best practice, I do the same when I have the same question in my head, I try to make music I don't understand to gain better perspective on it.

Correct.

I’ve explained where I gathered my impressions. If you don’t accept an impression based the sources I’ve mentioned, that’s fine. If you hate “the media”, you’ve got an issue I cannot help, nor do I have the inclination to try. I’m not going down this path of argumentation with you.

It’s not required to personally know Apple employees when journalists have verified their sources, especially when what they say is consistently aligned with the statements of countless other named & unnamed sources.
Touchy.
Seriously? Are you the type who goes out and pokes someone and then complains when they tell you to knock it off?

Unless you’re a principal shareholder, you don’t really matter.
