(But support has been contacted for it.)
Really? I don't have such a problem. It lags though when I change the audio driver type (it takes about a second or so).

My problem now is Arp Odyssey has small GUI!! Not horrible, but with 2k/32" monitor it is not that comfy. Oh well, glad that everything is working now :D

I'm actually thinking the same now!! After I ignored it all this time, I find myself thinking of it for two reasons, first I realised that I'm old so I'm looking backwards more than forwards :hihi: second, is I feel gratitude towards Korg for fixing all those GUI size and the scroll hell in MS-20. But I'm waiting for a reasonable discount after this Corona era hopefully ($100 or less will be ideal for me).

Also, try to find the old Paul Osborn presets if you can. I've scanned through many different banks since 1992, and that dude's have been the ones I often come back to again and again. He REALLY pushed it further than anyone else, with the combos of WaveSequencing and Vector Synthesis. Also loads of 70's style analogue string synth and pad style Performances that sound incredible and alive. There were DreamWaves 1 & 2 and TranceWaves 1 & 2.
The Paul Osborn patches are great indeed. Play C# and E on Patch 0 on Dreamwaves 1 (Sensory Whorl) and listen to The motion of Stars on Vangelis' Direct. The patch names "Nylon Oxygen" and "Polyester Pad" are subtle references to the voiceover on the last track "Intergalactic Radio Station"

Yamaha doesn't have any synths worth modelling anyway.
:uhuhuh: What about FS1R

Just wondering, but... how is the Arp Odyssey? Anywhere near the original?

I’m not saying it doesn’t, because I've never tried it, but I was a bit suspicious when Dave from Gforce done the videos comparing the Karp to the original and never mentioned the Oddity.

I can't find it at the minute but there was a YT video comparison of the current KORG Arp Odyssey Hardware Vs KORG Arp Odyssey Software. They sounded identical to my ears.

If that's what you were asking. That's my answer.
Anyone who can make you believe absurdities can make you commit atrocities.

Maybe this one?

Nah! That's GForce. Software Vs Software.

TBH, I'm a bit disappointed already. If they don't even get the raw waveforms right, then I doubt that the softie is very close.

Post

these videos sold me the plugin at the time, as there's no demo

my issue with the Odyssey vst (besides the tiny gui) is how it still uses cpu when it's not playing, and quickly changing the "voice assign" switch (eg. if I use it in DUO mode I quickly switch to POLY then right back to DUO) puts it back to 0% CPU, so it's likely something which could be addressed and hasn't been during all this time :(

i don't have comparision material, i.e. hardware, but the odessey is a great sounding vst synth. it has the filters of the 3 versions, i mean you can change the filter behavior. it sounds great, like the polysix, monopoly and ms-20. in a mix, someone heard i used a ms-20, didn't know it was the vsti version...

i decide not on how good an emulation is, but how good the emulation itself is. how it works for me. and i used them a lot. for me they work, really work.

Fair enough. For me, a emulation has to be close to the thing it emulates, otherwise I can as well just buy a random synth.

When I try to copy something, I will try to make it as close as possible, otherwise that would be pretty senseless.
