Sugar Bytes stuff.
MMorph.
MSpectralDelay.
2gether Audio G8tor.
Good ol' Glitch (32 bit version).
And by all means, sampling voice and household items! (and combining them with the Melda stuff mentioned above)

I don't think you can get much more 'out there' than Synplant. https://soniccharge.com/synplant

Out there. Hmm.

Probably the most "out there" sounds I've heard were with a convolution reverb, an IR set like Spirit Canyon Audio's (company folded, I believe), and just about any sound source (synth, etc.). With the right IR set, those sounds can get pretty wild.

Post

I have been trying to get the Spirit Canyon IR sets for years!

Ya, I use Trash 2 convolution a lot, although I have yet to try using third party IRs with it. Melda's MConvolutionEZ (free) has some nice IRs in its "sound design" presets.
Doing nothing is only fun when you have something you are supposed to do.

this guys instruments are about as out there as they come...

The oscilloscope music plugins by Soundemote are incredible!

I especially like Radar Generator and Nyquist Generator. There is nothing out there remotely like them. They aren't ambient soundscape generators like most of what has been posted in this thread, but they can certainly make some sounds that would layer nicely into such soundscapes! These synths create some very rich and complex timbres using an approach quite unlike the usual saw, square, triangle, and sine oscillators.

These simply don't get enough attention. I'd love to see these guys succeed. I want to hear what else they come up with!

You can get some crazy stuff from structural morphing

Just demo'd it and still not sure if it fits the bill for me though

The Microtonic Patternarium is certainly free, but Microtonic itself is $99 plus vat.
That (patternarium) is awesome!

A.A.S. Objeq Delay is a good one for me, though probably not as crazy as some of the recommendations in this thread.

My gripe with Obscorium is that it isn't possible to also automate the VST parameters in my host (Reason) or is it?

+1 for sugar bytes aparillo. weird, and fun...

Yeah, you can indirectly automate the VST parameters by modulating Obscurium's parameters, but I don't think you can directly automate them. For me this isn't a problem since the point is to let Obscurium automate those parameters itself. If you need direct access to the VST parameters in a particular situation then you probably don't want to use Obscurium.
