Hi,
I'm looking to get some decent synth patches for Hillsong/Bethel/Elevation type worship music.
I currently own NI Komplete 12 Ultimate but haven't really found any presets that are ticking the box and I don't know anything about creating synth patches.
Could anyone recommend any decent synths that have some great presets for this style of music please?

Sorry, I only do Satanic worship. I prefer orgies and metal over plagues and floods. Good luck!

or...
we could just answer the guy?
if you have komplete, there may be an option in kontakt.
massivex should have some nice pads too.
sorry i dont know the specifics of worship music pads, but pads in general you have plenty in komplete really. just a matter of going through the presets.

Are these traditional or modern charismatic? I've heard of Bethel but can't place it. I'll do some research for you.dickiefunk wrote: Wed Apr 22, 2020 2:01 pm Hi,

OK, on my first listen, it seems to me you need some kind of strings pad. There are some dedicated string synths available that can make life easier. I personally like B.Serrano's Free synths for this purpose. Horus 2 is a good one. http://www.vst4free.com/free_vst.php?pl ... II&id=2036 I'm sure others know of good commercial pad synths if you don't want to go the freeware route.

Suggestions for new things below, but first, get on the phone and
chat with the mentioned music departments about what they use.
Second, you have Reaktor, with it's Razor and Prismz instruments,
and non-Reaktor FM8, Absynth, Massive and Massive X. all great for pads...
...now some of their presets are needlessly detuned, losing musicality, so find
the tuning dial, and adjust/save the presets. Cellphone easy, but you'll
want a spiral notebook to keep a top 100 etc
A lot of pads are pluks and leads with ADSR mods,
which knobs are east to spot and use in most guis
A attack = turn knob to the right to reduce immediate sound starting
D decay = adjust to taste after tweaking S and R
S sustain = turn knob to right to increase sound re-generating
R release = turn knob tp right to increase the time for a sound to fade away
IK's Sampletank 4 is 16 part multi-timbral,
sample based, with built-in multi-effects, and many presets to begin with,
so it's easy to create layered pads that
are not cookie-cutter presets. IK's Syntronik has 4 layers + effects.
and covers a wide range of the most desirable synths.
Adding strings, winds, keys, and vocals to build a pads is simple
and rewarding with IK
The Korg Legacy Collection was just updated for larger gui's,
the included M1 and Wavestation are great for pad presets,
both in quality and numbers
Hive 2 and Zebra 2 from U-he, and Synthmaster II / Synthmaster One
from KV331 are excellent for pads, with great 3rd party soundsets,
and lots of good factory sounds.
Omnisphere mentioned above is very popular, I've never used it
due to $cost$
The old but well aging and free Synth1 with a few track instances would be fine,
with pads in soundsets from Mr Wobble, Nolwenn, Lucknow,
and Tim Conrardy's excellent set. Among many others.
Put .zip archived preset banks (many are here at kvr) in the
synth1 'zipbank' folder) Keep them zipped!
discoDSP's Discovery Pro, as well as Synth1 are based on older
versions of Nord hardware, seen often in churches,
and can be put to very good use.
A newer Nord is in this vid:
If budget is not the factor, the Korg collection and Omnisphere
may be the best choices, I see Omni in some church service music videos.
You could likely trade your Komplete Ultimate license for Omnisphere,
or keep it for future learning. But the K U synths followed by Raum, Guitar Rig,
and Replika have a lot to offer the pads on hand.
Cheers

Listening to YouTube videos of the three the OP stated, I notice first of all, the makeup is mainly piano and secondarily pads.
For that reason, I'd say Omnisphere is the worst suggestion unless you're going to spend more to get those pianos added to it.
On two of those groups, I also noticed they use Nord, which means literally anything that gives you piano, organ and synth will do the job.
My all in one suggestion would therefore be HALion.
But other bundles could get you there too. e.g. AnalogLab, Korg, etc.
I wouldn't suggest NI though either, since instant gratification of choose a preset in as single program is not really it's strength compared to others.

Thanks for the helpful suggestions guys. I've already got pianos covered with EmberTones Walker 1955 Concert D and all the pianos from NI Komplete 12 Ultimate. I will check out all your suggestions! I gone through all the presets in Massive X and Absynth and not found the sound I'm looking for but will have a go at tweaking. Omnisphere looks great but a lot of money.

It cost way less than NI Ultimate, you made mistake getting Ultimate in first place, don't know who told you to get that, if you did any prior investigation you would know what everyone was using and recommending, they actually sell patches for Mainstage and Omnisphere, it's the thing for worship.
