They aren't making a Push clone. More beatmaking like features then live performance I see for sure. Because hip hop producers make it a little bit more interesting vs the performance in showcasing these products. For ex Maschine, Atom, Push 2. I already talked to an employee at a Studio One event about this. Probably a bigger Atom from my talks. Can't make something that it's not.antic604 wrote: Thu Apr 23, 2020 4:17 pmWell, how about we look at it from different angle:rmacattack wrote: Thu Apr 23, 2020 3:43 pmHow have they done that? They have one pad controller. Looks at their hardware portfolio. That should give you your answer.chk071 wrote: Thu Apr 23, 2020 10:49 am I hope Presonus don't make Studio One a Live or Bitwig clone.I don't want that, I don't need that.
In other words... use Live or Bitwig for that!
- S1 has beatmaker friendly Impact XT and Sample One XT
- S1 added patterns in v4, guess who uses those?
- S1 has extended FX Chains, that most 'traditional' musicians don't even touch (or understand)
- Presonus has built a controller for beatmakers - Atom
- since they're a hardware company, they can EASILY make Push or LP clone
All I'm saying clip launcher fits their trajectory of straddling the space between traditional and creative DAWs.

I personally don't want a clip launcher in S1. The Arranger tracks and scratch pad work just as well for that type of workflow imo. Presonus may have added some non-traditional features to S1 but they do have a specific audience that they still need to cater too. Namely recording engineers and producers. Unless Presonus is going to be moving to making DJ/Performance equipment their primary money makers are their live sound equipment (mixers, speakers, audio interfaces).

Yes a bigger Atom for beatmaking purposes in terms of music production.antic604 wrote: Thu Apr 23, 2020 4:31 pmbigger Atom = Push/LP-alikermacattack wrote: Thu Apr 23, 2020 4:29 pmI already talked to an employee at a Studio One event about this. Push 2 is great. That's why I guess sticking with Ableton would be the better choice. When I had mine I definitely used in more for songwriting purposes rather than playing 4 bars space music loops switching scene to scene.antic604 wrote: Thu Apr 23, 2020 4:47 pmAnd Push2 is for what? Oh and judging from the Atom facebook group and staff that looks at it they will definitely be adding more stuff for the music producer over live performance.

Clip launcher in S1 would be great. Scratchpad is good, but not the same. They definitely appear to cater more towards record engineers and producers, but the addition of features and workflows geared towards EDM/Loop based producers in recent versions (and release on Splice) makes me think something like clip launching is not farfetched. I think they're absolutely trying to capture a slice of the market Ableton/FL serves in addition to their current audience (which isn't a bad thing)

Scratchpad was always buggy ( tempo envelope bugs etc ) , now it seems to behave pretty o.k.

Well, I think (depending on tutorials and YouTube videos I'm seeing) that many Hip Hop producers (musicians for me) are using linear DAWs especially Logic and S1. While I see most EDM (i mean dance music) are using Live. But it is not a rule really! People are using whatever they like if they have the choice and preference/taste is so subjective.
Anyway, S1 is sure 'borrowing' from Pro Tools for mixing. They have also many hardware mixers. However, the 'composing' and arrangement stages are also taking a good notice from Presonus. IMO, they should cooperate (if they haven't already done that!) with some Hip Hop producers so they add/enhance a workflow targeted to that genre (and other similar genres). Just a thought though, not sure how good or practical it is!

Using: Cubase Pro 15, Reason 13, Tascam US-4x4HR, MODX6, DM12D, LaunchKey 49, Yamaha guitar(Pacifica 612v) and bass (BB234) and some virtual instruments and synths.

As a contented user since release I've no need for Ableton, but If enough people want pattern based workflow, and PS are savvy enough, they will introduce it somewhere down the line.rmacattack wrote: Thu Apr 23, 2020 3:39 pmDon't see them doing that. That what you use Ableton for.Aliens wrote: Thu Apr 23, 2020 3:43 am Presonus could add a pattern based creation option to go with push and launchpad type integration, to join the likes of Bitwig, Fruityloops, Mixcraft and others who already do it, and though I prefer linear workflow, as long as it's use isn't mandatory or gets in the way, then I wouldn't complain.
But then they might as well just create a 100% pattern based daw, keeping all of the internal gubbins (which could still be updated for both versions at the same time), and sell that instead.
I'd be okay with either option.

They have already. Do you not know some of the features they added for midi? Its smashes Fl studio in that department for midi. Do you know what fill with notes does? Can I play any random drum pattern or just throw in a random midi file and studio one follows the root notes of the chords. Especially for those that use 808s/ Can I take the chords from a song and save them as a midi file. Can I take any audio file and then studio one will detect the chords and I can change any of those chords (even though it's audio). Edges FL Studio also in hardware integration. Can I program a sample to remix and play it on the atom, bounce it,and then drag that audio file into the chord track. From here I get the chords of that sample I sliced.dirtydenver wrote: Thu Apr 23, 2020 5:45 pm Clip launcher in S1 would be great. Scratchpad is good, but not the same.
