Looking at buying a boxed copy of Cakewalk Project 5 v. 1.3. Will it be just a fancy paperweight?

My main concern is will there be all the unlock codes I need in the box. I doubt there's anyone to email me those now.

I tried running it a few years ago, wasn't really worth it. IIRC it didn't work very well under Win 8 anyway.

Ok. I get most things I need with Energy XT anyway.

I wouldn't bother with it at v1.3. From what I remember v2.5 added many things users/reviewers asked for. A lot of Project 5 was integrated into Sonar which you probably already know and is available for free and being updated.

Yes, it will be a paperweight. For the price of one meal: totally worth it to add to your personal museum.
And you get a free upgrade to v1.5! :wheee:

Why not get the free Cakewalk by Bandlab instead?

Last version was 2.5.1. Huge difference with 1.3. Not worth it. Anyway, the copy protection was an authorization code that was not linked to the machine, so, if the seller gives you the code you should be able to install. I have 2.5.1 installed in Windows 10 with the code that used in Windows 2000, or NT, or something like that, and it works fine. Not that I use it, but still.

I had no trouble installing 2.5 on Win10

It's a cool, straightforward DAW imo,
PSYN II synth is a very nice one

I bought an old boxed copy too
I wonder what I want in here
-my site is gone and music a mess
