Ah thanks. I will check this. And maybe try to find some more information regarding transients in different DAW’s.andypryce wrote: Sat Apr 25, 2020 9:26 amI think Ableton and Cubase (Also Logic with slice mode) keep the transient intact and stretch or shrink the rest of the waveform.

I think they should make Impact XT a 3rd party VSTi , free with there Atom controller . I think it would increase sales of the Atom . As for StudioOne5 , I think you have to look at what your competition is doing. Ableton Live , Bitwig , Logic , 1. something needs to be done in the clip launcher loop based department either as a separate plugin or baked into StudioOne5 . The Kool kids ( sarcasm ) are into beat making and loops so it only makes sense , I know Presonus was giving Live 10 lite or intro away for Atom owners and had some videos of how to use it with Live10 lite . So, Presonus already knows stuff Like Maschine and Live are really popular with younger generation making music. As for US OLD DOGS ? What else you really want.

for 3 versions Presonus had nothing to do with any sort of loop/beat making so called options. the idea that they visit it in one version (4.0) and people are pissed off just blows my mind. I think guys that use this sort of production just want to see it refined , no ones asking s1 to be bitwig,or ableton live, just if your going to bring out a pattern option in your daw, make sure it doesn't suck! or just don't offer it at all..

Not only that...Crossinger wrote: Sat Apr 25, 2020 9:39 amAh thanks. I will check this. I cannot speak for Cubase though but i.e. others have:
1. a much better and deeper implementation of the zplane algo´s with seperate controls over the formants which is indispensable for i.e. Vocals which cannot be handled by the monophonic algo or how transients are treated...
2. More different timestretch algo´s for creative use
3. a Resample/Repitch/Tape mode (however you like to call it)
4. A Beat/Slice mode which doesn´t do any timestretching to the waveform but just put the transients relatively on the beat... this is the most natural sounding way to treat drumloops with different tempos as it doesn´t produce any artifacts... this can be worked around in S1 but of course it´s easier with a dedicated implementation
Speaking about the quality, I don´t know what Presonus made different but for many things I tried and of the DAWs I know ( Reaper, FL Studio, Ableton, Bitwig, MuLab, S1 and Reason) the timestretching in Studio One is by far the worst sounding and weakest implementation in terms of options and tweakability even by comparing the same algo´s if possible... I think this is due the try of handling all situations with just 3 different options...

Judging from the Atom user group, Presonus will definitely be targeting the music producer/songwriter crowed mixed with the technical side.

Nope, but seeing the products they've come out with and what I've seen with users via the facebook group I see what they are doing. Like I said I went to an event and met some of the staff. They certainly aren't going no DJ route. That makes no absolute sense at all.apoclypse wrote: Thu Apr 23, 2020 10:37 pmDo you work for Presonus?rmacattack wrote: Thu Apr 23, 2020 4:35 pmNo they aren't.apoclypse wrote: Thu Apr 23, 2020 4:33 pm I personally don't want a clip launcher in S1. The Arranger tracks and scratch pad work just as well for that type of workflow imo. Presonus may have added some non-traditional features to S1 but they do have a specific audience that they still need to cater too. Namely recording engineers and producers. Unless Presonus is going to be moving to making DJ/Performance equipment their primary money makers are their live sound equipment (mixers, speakers, audio interfaces).

No, I don't think so. You'd need Gate to go over 100%chk071 wrote: Sat Apr 25, 2020 2:49 pm Stupid question, but... is there any way to make notes glide in the S1 pattern/step sequencer?

If this means re-skinning native devices to v3/4 UI style, then that's enough for me to upgrade to v5. I'm sure there will be other useful things, too!keel wrote: Fri Apr 24, 2020 10:02 pmThere is 72 new features / changes in total, and 28 of them is related to their plugins.
So, any info on the ETA?

Then that would definitely be one of my feature requests.
I know, you can achieve glide with automation. But, cumbersome...

But automation will only take care of pitch, whereas 'true' glide also typically involves certain behaviour of envelopes (i.e. that they're not retriggered). Definitely a feature request on my part, too.chk071 wrote: Sat Apr 25, 2020 6:33 pmThen that would definitely be one of my feature requests.

> Routing the internal channels of a synth or drum box to the mixer console is still a pain in S1.
Doable but awkward, and sometimes microscopic, and the resulting mixer tracks can't be moved around freely either.
I'd like to see this improve, as separating different channels of a synth in a mix is central to workflow.

Unless I'm confused, you're both way off here -- you can indeed create Glides in the patterns / step sequencer. Remember, they added the ability recently to create notes that are longer than a single step (click and drag in the sequencer). Glide also depends on the synth being used: the sequencer can't create glide by itself, the synth has to be programmed to glide.chk071 wrote: Sat Apr 25, 2020 6:33 pmThen that would definitely be one of my feature requests.

I quickly made a Mai Tai patch set to Mono mode with Glide enabled. I then made the pictured sequence. Note the lower note is long, so when the upper notes are played, that is 'legato' playing because the lower note is still being 'held'.
Point being, the pitch glides up to the higher notes. And that's all in the Pattern mode / Step Sequencer.

I'm assuming s1 v5 is still a good distance off, nothing jumping for Presonus @ Superbooth 2020, other then an update to Faderport 8/16.
