These security updates kill me... more on iOS than MacOS, but shit gets broken. My iPad Pro, is only Pro-ish until they resolve the newly introduced bug with 3rd party keyboards. Good thing I'm home and don't need the iPad.

touchid is only available on post 16 macbook pros (with the touchbar) and they're still all fully supportedJace-BeOS wrote: Sat Apr 25, 2020 5:52 pm Was this on a supported Mac? If so, I’d look into Apple support. Everything should be supported or the machine isn’t even allowed to run the OS version.
first thing the OP should do is a clean install of catalina to another drive and see if touchid works - if it does it's a bad upgrade (happens)

Same issue with 13.4.1
I'm using the Logitech Slim Folio Pro. Since the release of 13.4, it's caused major issues. I've removed additional languages because that was part of the problem (with auto detection), but now even limited to just English it still has issues with working correctly.... keys are unresponsive, but eventually work but repeat the process each time returning to the keyboard.
I'm happy you are not experiencing it, but there's enough users having the problem that its a known issue and the linked article is just one of many articles listing the same problem and same fix (that has not fixed my issues yet).
I haven't reached out to Apple Support, but that's next on my list.

Serious Question: what is *gained* from upgrading to Catalina? Do you just really want the Dark mode or something? What do you need from it?
I ask this as someone who is currently running low Sierra on his main music rig.
Because I seriously have no good answer to my question above, and haven't for numerous OS updates over the past 4-5 years.

Dark Mode was released on Mojave.mholloway wrote: Sat Apr 25, 2020 8:53 pm Serious Question: what is *gained* from upgrading to Catalina? Do you just really want the Dark mode or something? What do you need from it?

Edit: and iOS 13. It’s maybe the only reason I want iOS 13. I’ve been avoiding it like the plague. I also avoided iOS 11. 12 was less a mess, but Apple keeps showing how shitty they are at QA... and none of my Macs support Mojave, and the hacks to install it will break things. So, no dark mode for me on anything.

The biggest reason I want Catalina is for Sidecar. I do my share of work in Photoshop and Illustrator, but not enough to ever justify buying a Wacom Cintiq.
This is not an essential upgrade reason, but its the only reason why I've been interested and as enough time passes by, I'm finding less reason why I shouldn't upgrade (but I still have to double check before making that plunge).

No this Mac is fully supported with Apple Care. Their only answer was to install Catalina because and I quote "it works better."

If I could go back to low Sierra I would but, I didn't do a backup before I installed update. I just want my Touch ID back, that's all.

So I think I'm down to just verifying Catalina support for UVI's Relayer and Plate. I'm also not sure about a couple 2CAudio plugins.

the specs on the plate and relayer product pages both say 10.15 is supported
however I don't think 2caudio has 10.15 support out yet

The only app I need to update is Ableton for Catalina support. Other than that I think I can update with no issues.
Studio One // Bitwig // Logic Pro // Ableton // Reason // FLStudio // MPC // Force // Maschine

But... isn’t Catalina the OS where the TouchID stopped working on your machine? They have nothing else for you? Doesn’t sound like good Apple Care.joeyfivecents wrote: Sun Apr 26, 2020 6:53 pm No this Mac is fully supported with Apple Care. That's so strange! On the download page from "My products" the last update are very old with nothing mentioned in the release notes, but yet this is noted under UVI Workstationjdnz wrote: Mon Apr 27, 2020 7:04 am the specs on the plate and relayer product pages both say 10.15 is supported

Well, down to just 2CAudio

I took the plunge and so far only the Kore 2 stuff (as expected is gone).
I do have some old drivers to update (Logitech and Wacom). I'll have to update the drivers for the TR-08 too, but 3 things is not bad (so far).
I've been able to open all my old projects in Live even with the 2CAudio plugins (which is almost all of them). Before upgrading, I swapped out my normal templates for new ones with Fabfilter's Pro-R instead. I've neglected this one (which I only bought because it was stupid cheap in bundle/loyalty pricing).
I still have to check out the video software and Logic. I'm hoping for no surprises there.
There's been quite a few annoyance, with permissions for notifications (Microsoft, Adobe, Logitech) and keystroke permissions for Logitech and Wacom. These are all things which I've probably gone through before years ago but just haven't had to deal with in many years.
I'm sure I'll have to add Audio Ease's Snapper to the permission list, but again, no big deal.
One thing that's glaringly different and is not obvious to me is seeing if my music content is being upload via iTune Match. This was very clear in the old iTunes, but in the Music app they seem to have removed the icons for cloud downloading/uploading (or else this just doesn't work). This has been an essential tool to me for years (finish a project, add to iTunes and then have access on all devices).
It was a fairly quick download/install compared to what I remember. But now comes the wait and see for any issues.
