I'm looking for a DAW (or preferably just an audio editor) that automatically can place markers at the start of e.g all drum hits.
I've looked into SoundForge. Doesn't seem to be possible. There's auto-region, which isn't what i want, i only want markers at the start of each hit, not a a whole region (=also places a marker at what it thinks is the end of a hit).
In Cubase you can automatically create markers at the start of each sound, which is perfect, but there's no good way of exporting these markers into a common format that e.g Soundforge (my preferred editor) can read, at least not to my knowledge. Instead it seems to create a .xml file and not meta-data which is inserted into the .wav.
Audicity can import meta-data, but it could not import my .xml which Cubase had created. Which is odd since it's the correct file format and everything..
Any other ideas?

yes, exactly.tooneba wrote: Sun Apr 26, 2020 12:18 pm So your goal is to import wav with these markers to Sound Forge, right?
I have a workaround where i can create the markers on my HW sampler (which these files are for), save the file, remove SD card and use my PC to import it into SoundForge.. it's not TOO bad, but i wish i could do it in the PC. the HW sampler's placement of these markers are not nearly as good as with e.g Cubase so each marker has to be manually moved.

Image-Line´s Slicex (available as a VSTi) does exactly that...
It autocreates markers in any drumloop (and let you edit them to your liking of course) and as it´s editor region is a complete version of their audio editor Edison you can save the wav file from there which writes the created markers into the metadata of the wav!!!
Very nice feature!!
