I do not use a lot synths nowadays. Frankly just Zebra2, Surge and Live's Operator. And I reduced my setup on purpose; nevertheless I'm temped to buy MSoundFactory. It's modular with a heap of sound generators and fx's and have great routing possibilities. And the updates are free. I'm a bit familiar with MeldaProduction stuff and have barely a problem with the GUI. However, I successfully fought my GAS a while ago and I want to keep my setup minimal. Therefore I'm looking for the cons rather the pros to buy MSoundFactory. So why should I not buy it?

P.S.: I rarely use presets so for me it's only important to make my own sound design. So I don't care about the quality of presets and/or devices for MSoundFactory.

P.P.S.: I demoed MSoundFactory and really like it so far. With this thread I just want to rule out it's not a relapse to GAS.

Although your post is in no way related to my question: I tried Fathom. I did not liked Fathom. Out of several reasons I do not want to discuss here ...

Okay, fair enough

Just wanted to know, why MSF should be this dream and not some other synth, Fathom being just an example.

The only downside I would see is : lack of examples. I mean : no good presets, not a huge sound designers community, so if you want to do something rather complex and are looking for help or tutorials, you might be on your own.
But I've always been a big big fan of MPowersynth, so I would say : go !

There are multiple reason to not buy from meldaproduction at all. But I do not want to discuss here ...

If it works for you, why does it matter what others say? I personally think the overall handling is horrible and I'd only use it for sfx design, if it all. I've also not heard any examples that make it sound so unique. I mean I've saw crazy presets creating supersaws, which I can do with a single knob in other synths

. I know you post in the melda subforum too so you already have seen the threads about the not so good MSF filters and other missing feature requests. I think like in other synths it's a "all-in-one-but-nothing-really-good" approach.

I can see over 50 Devices here and over 1,100 global presets. The sound designers are working away quietly. There are several excellent video tutorials (check out Chandlerhimself) and KvR forum users are often around to help on the MedlaProduction sub-forum.

You will see people who try to make it look bad and others who say the exact opposite.
If you don´t demo MSF you will never find out, really.

Like any other synths tbh. If it does fit your needs/likings/desires, just go for it.
You can always sell/exchange it later if former enthousiasm lowers over time;

Don't you think what we can hear in those Chandler videos is quite amateur-ish sounding ?

But I understand what you mean anyway, there is some work going on in background, I get it.

Anyway, don't get me wrong : I'm not saying in any way MSoundFactory is a bad choice, I'm saying a very, very few people may know how to make it sound really good, so if you need advices, you might quickly run out of ideas. MSoundFactory is an excellent choice.

Is MSoundFactory by MeldaProduction the sound-designers wet-dream? / Why should I not buy it?
