Presonus and Celemony developed ARA together.
Presonus has supported ARA2 from Studio One 4 on.
Celemony has supported ARA2 from Melodyne 4.2 on.

Not so. Man, a lot of misinformation is popping up in this thread :\SLiC wrote: Sun Apr 26, 2020 9:32 am you have to make a normal track first and then convert it to a pattern track- why not just have it as a track type (instrument, audio, automation, pattern?)
1. there is no 'pattern track' -- regular clips and Pattern clips both exist on Instrument Tracks. The track doesn't change. Thats a good thing, I'd say; adding an entirely new track type would just bloat the DAW.
2.the alleged required conversion you speak of is also wrong; you can hit CTRL+SHIFT+P and that will create a pattern on an Instrument Track. It's also in one of the drop-down menus, I don't remember where offhand. Again, no need to create a regular clip and then 'convert' it to a pattern clip.

I think he means pattern clip instead of pattern track , pattern and midi clips co-exist on the same track .

I think so too, but he's still wrong -- you don't have to create a 'normal' clip and then convert it to Pattern, you can start with a pattern from scratch, as I pointed out above. He was asserting otherwise.gentleclockdivider wrote: Mon Apr 27, 2020 9:58 pm I think he means pattern clip instead of pattern track , pattern and midi clips co-exist on the same track .

You can also I think since 4.5/4.6 convert a pattern to a regular clip as well. Which is pretty cool.mholloway wrote: Mon Apr 27, 2020 10:00 pmI think so too, but he's still wrong -- you don't have to create a 'normal' clip and then convert it to Pattern, you can start with a pattern from scratch, as I pointed out above. But the only way you can start a pattern from scratch is by memorising some alt/shift whatever combo or menu diving somewhere you can’t remember...it just doesn’t see to fit with the visual and accessible workflow for most other things in S1 for me....admittedly I don’t use it very often as I record mainly live instruments, but when I have thought of using it I can never remember how to get it ‘started’!mholloway wrote: Mon Apr 27, 2020 10:00 pmI think so too, but he's still wrong -- you don't have to create a 'normal' clip and then convert it to Pattern, you can start with a pattern from scratch, as I pointed out above. Well, I thought it was not yet implemented, but I might be wrong. How can I verify if it is ARA2 in Studio One 4 ? Do they have any official statement on ARA 2 being implemented in S1 Pro 4 ?apoclypse wrote: Mon Apr 27, 2020 10:04 pmI thought Melodyne was already ARA2 for S1? Presonus literally invented ARA.
ARA2 has been implemented in Studio One since 2018.
PreSonus releases Studio One 4
23rd May 2018
"PreSonus worked with Celemony on the original Audio Random Access (ARA) spec that allows for seamless integration with Melodyne. Studio One 4 is ready for ARA 2.0, which provides access to data from multiple tracks."

I think the words "ready for" could also mean it is not yet implemented, but it is ready for it. imho. A bit confusing, and ambiguous. They could have said Studio One "offers" ARA 2 functionality, instead of "ready for" .

Here’s something I have long wanted them to implement since I came over to studio one 3.5 from having used Digital performer for a long time. It’s something that’s long been a feature of Digital performer.
The ability to save “mixes” - how the mix board is set up, including all routing and plug-ins instantiated. In digital performer there is a pop-up menu at the bottom of the mixing board that lets you save your current “mix“ — that is, the current mixing board set up, i.e. all routing and all instantiated plug-ins and their settings. Then you can choose to load your saved “mixes“ and boom, you get back instantly all of your routing and instantiated plug-ins (and their settings) for that saved “mix.”
So I really wish Presonus would add that to studio one. It’s awesome and I hate being without it.
And, I really wish they would have the ability to select plug-ins by clicking on them and select multiple plug-ins by shift clicking, so then you could then select to “remove“ and then all of the selected plug-ins would be removed, Or while they are all selected you could bypass (Or turn off) one Of the selected plug-ins and all of the selected plug-ins also get bypassed (Or turned off).

I think they said "Ready for ARA 2.0" because you also need an ARA2 compatible program to link to.Muziksculp wrote: Tue Apr 28, 2020 12:18 am I think the words "ready for" could also mean it is not yet implemented, but it is ready for it. imho. As the pioneers of ARA and ARA2, there wasn't actually compatible 3rd party software available for ARA2 at the time Studio One 4 was announced. So that may have played a role in their wording.
In other words, Studio One 4 would be "ready for" an ARA2 compatible mate as soon as one was available.

Thanks for the feedback. So, this would mean that the standard Melodyne version that is built into S1 4.6 is already ARA2 spec. wise.jamcat wrote: Tue Apr 28, 2020 12:32 amI think they said "Ready for ARA 2.0" because you also need an ARA2 compatible program to link to.Muziksculp wrote: Tue Apr 28, 2020 12:18 am I think the words "ready for" could also mean it is not yet implemented, but it is ready for it. imho. So.. What does ARA 2 offer that ARA 1 did not ? I'm no expert on the ARA side of Studio One.
