I am creating this thread for folks to share links to KORG M1 resources.

Presonus Chorder preset (KORG M1 Drum Map for KLC Standard Kit program)
I was surprised to discover that I could not find any existing resources for Studio One that allowed a user to playback General MIDI drum sequences with KORG M1. Somebody in a Presonus forum had mentioned that re-mapping General MIDI drum notes to native KORG M1 drum notes could be accomplished with the Chorder plugin that comes with Studio One, so I took it upon myself to create the Chorder preset to do that. The preset works for the Standard Kit program in the KLC card; it works for several of the other drum kit programs in the KLC card as well.

I have uploaded the Chorder preset to the Presonus Exchange for anyone who wants it.

After you have downloaded the Chorder preset file, you can import it into Chorder from a Studio One project:


I am not sure if it is necessary, but you might need to right-click on Chorder and invoke refresh to see the imported preset:


To get started with the drum remapping, simply drag that imported Chorder preset onto your instrument track where the M1 plugin is assigned to play drums:


Be sure that the Standard Kit (or possibly one of the other drum kits in the KLC card bank, e.g. Jaz/ BrushKit) is selected from the KLC card bank in KORG M1:


The General MIDI drum sequence need not be altered at all. The remapping of MIDI notes from General MIDI drums to KORG M1 Standard Kit drums is automatic (the mapping is defined within the Chorder preset). Just press play in Studio One to hear some kickin' 1990's-era rompler drums.

I hope this clarifies how to use the Chorder preset to enable playback of General MIDI drum sequences with some of the KORG M1 drum kits.

I was asking about how you used the Chorder Plug-In to Re-Map the GM Drum Kit. I guess I will have to mess around a bit with this Plug-In to see what it does.

You click the "Learn Mode" button in Chorder, followed by a click of the "Clear All" button (to erase the default mappings), and then it is a tedious process of mapping the keys (bottom keys to top keys) within the General MIDI Level 1 Percussion Key Map, one note at a time, to the appropriate KORG Legacy Collection drum note equivalents (which are actually just one octave higher than the General MIDI drum notes).



When that is all done, you save the Chorder preset, export the Chorder preset, and then Bob's your uncle!
