Professionally speaking, I'm so sick and tired of seeing one of my favorite hosts getting diss so much. :(

OK. So FLS isn't namecheck in the entertainment field like Reason or Pro-Tools. But is there really that much hate for one freaking software?!? :?

Acually, I should care less about what people think about FLS. I love it. I use it of more than half of my production work. And despite some drawbacks, I still recommend it to people who are just starting out with computer music recording. :D

Please speak up fellow FLS users. 8)

As for anyone else: you still have free speech. Please be nice sometimes.

I'll check back before I leave for work. 8)

It may be Belgian  , but this American loves FLS. And I'm just piss a little that it may never get the same respect as Reason. Stupid RIAA. 8)

The ongoing thread about "worst sequencing host" really made things hit the fan. And it a surprise that the controversy hasn't surpass others like these:

PC vs. Mac
Crunk
Ashlee Simpson
Trance
Bush vs. Kerry

:?

I've used FL Studio before to make loops... it's not that bad and it's the app that I recommend for people starting out, however, it could never be my main host because it doesn't handle audio well enough.

FL Studio is a great product. The times I've used it it has performed really well. Its definitely one of the best values out there and I know a lot of people that use it. It doesnt match the way I like to work exactly, which is why I dont use it as my main host, but it still has all the tools you need to make great tracks.

I think its biggest draw back is its name :hihi: . How can something with the name Fruity Loops be taken seriously? Is that some type of European joke? Terrible name. FLStudio is not much different. Regardless its a nice product tho.

FL Studio is by far the best app for drum programming I have used. I also find it great to work with for all kinds of electronica stuff :D.

Of course, it can be used for anything. I've used it for orchestral, trance, techno, cinematic type stuff, acoustic guitar-ey mexican stuff, rock, whatever. It's just no longer my favorite thing to use for most genres (although I have to say, the piano roll is probably the fastest one I've ever used).

I am a Fruity guy, myself...

I love the flexibility of the whole thing - I can do just about anything I can imagine. It was perfect for me right out of the box, er, download, because it came with everything I needed to make music from synths to fx, but has remained flexible and intuitive enough for some beastly projects since. Perhaps the one piece of software I am really genuinely satisfied with and feel like I got MORE than my money's worth. Thanks ImageLine.

I do everything in FLstudio, and I love it! Maybe it's not ideal for all people, but as a complete virtual studio I don't think you can beat it. I know some people have some negative preconceptions about it, but I usually put that down to ignorance or snobbery rather than an informed evaluation of it's merits. In fact I'm often pleasantly surprised about the attitude of many folks on KVR to FLstudio compared to some....

so you can add me to the official supporters list :)

100% FL here too. Have tried other hosts, but just get baffled. Am sure that if I'd spent enough time on them, they'd become as second nature to use as FL, but I can't be arsed. Until I come up against a serious limitation, then I'll be sticking with it for sure. In fact, I've recently been converting some tunes to be entirely native, and it's done wonders for my creativity (not to mention CPU usage). The idea being that once compostition is complete, I can replace some of the synths/samples with better sounding ones.

I guess FL still has a bad image for several reasons:

It's origins as a drum machine
The name
Colour scheme and quirky interface
Price

I guess also it's functionality is wide rather than deep.

Some of the new stuff in 5 will probably convert a few more peeps!

Racism? No.

But maybe the name "Fruity" is not macho enough.
