explain a little more what you are trying to do exactly. for starters you dont play a midi keyboard thru vsti's, you can play vsti's with a midi keyboard, is that what you mean? and what are you trying to attach to what exactly? im not familiar with that terminology re sound levels, thats e-mail talk where i come from. i might be able to help bt i need a bit more clarity on the situation.

Press [F11] to get the list of currently loaded VSTs.
click on a space and choose a new VST instrument.
Create a new MIDI track
In the inspector on the left, set "Input" to "All" or your specific MIDI keyboard, then "Output" to the VST instrument of your choice.
click on the MIDI track and play. you should be able to hear the VST instrument playing.

Not that I really care, but generally, are the SX manuals so bad that you can't use the program(s)
I have been thinking about getting SX but with the kind of probs ppl seem to have it's a little intimidating...

This process is covered in the Cubase 'Getting Started' guide. Tutorial 6 'Using VST Instruments' Pp.151 for Cubase SX 2. Similar entries exist in other Cubase versions.Violet-Fluid wrote:Thank you very much =) iv got it working....Sorry im new at this, but its that i just made the switch to cubase from cubasis....cubase offers so much more but its more complex but ill enjoy my stay with it. Anyone of average intelligence should have no problem understanding the manuals, especially the Tutorials in the Getting Started Guide. It's not rocket science, mindless wrote:Not that I really care, but generally, are the SX manuals so bad that you can't use the program(s)

but some users would have problems making toast, let alone using Cubase. Sure, there are a lot of features, but don't let that intimidate you. The kind of problems ppl
often post about are simple ones that can be solved by reading the Getting Started Manual.
I'm the first to admit that Cubase isn't perfect and doesn't fit every users style of working. but it isn't as bad as the
complainers make out. Remember, you see the complaints, but you seldom hear the satisfied users who are too busy using Cubase to bother posting. People post mostly when they want to bitch, moan and whinge.
Judge for yourself, English manuals are downloadable here:

They ask for your email address, but I think they are available for anyone thinking of buying.
