I’ve owned the FC now a couple of years.
The main shortage from my point of view is the unability of loading true stereo files from the browser. All in all, the file management is not the best possible.

+1, I have a stack of 4-channel Bricasti impulses that I'd like to be able to drag in.

In most of cases (in Live anyway), you can drag-and-drop real stereo impulses from the folder to the FC. But the FC own browser does not support the real streo impulse downloading.
All in all - the real streo management need improvement.

Yes, this won't be a problem with v2.0.

This is the new browser, there are 2 new columns, one that shows the Convolution Mode, and one that shows the amount of IRs in the preset. You will be able to save a single IR with 4 channels as a true stereo preset, or 2 stereo files (as before).


The currently available modes are: Single, Serial, Parallel, Parallel Mix, and True Stereo.
Just different combinations of the two internal convolvers:

Unfortunately, not yet. We have other products/updates (including an update to Fog v1.x) almost ready that will have priority. I hope to have a beta for v2.0 ready maybe in a couple of months.

Eheh, that's quite interesting indeed! We are collaborating with a sound designer who is using a technique called "nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy" to turn molecules/compounds into IRs. Really fascinating.

That is going to be included in v2.0 along with more IRs. We have no plans to sell individual IR banks.

Anyone having any luck with this on Catalina? When I try to add IRs (either factory banks or my own IRs) to the library, nothing happens. Not sure if there's something I'm missing. (I sent a message to support but it's the middle of the night in Ireland so I thought I'd see if any users have tried.)

Logic and Ableton

The process I'm using - + on banks, add existing bank, navigate to the folder that says Fog Convolver Factory Bank, Open - nothing happens. Same if I 'create new bank.'

If I import wav/aiff folder, also nothing.

If you don't mind, i have a major suggestion to submit to you, inspired by my own experience of so to say exotic impulse responses , still unedited AFAIK ....technically it means the implementation of half-steps by half-steps resampling option,

+ 1 octave to -1 octave for instance....this with a "fine tune" option

This might be a way to catch by ear, fine-tune and transpose chromatically ringtones and resonances induced (often unpredictably) by much of exotic soundfiles used as IR ... So in general any soundsources you want to use as a substitute at some degree, for sympathetic resonances ?

perhaps another feature for the another future, noticing the increasing flexibility of the time-stretch engines inside DAW (like the new features of the sampling engine in Logic 10.5), the implementation of this feature applied to IR samples ?

I've replied to your ticket, but just in case this should probably fix any permission issues:
Check if you have this folder/file:

If not, create each folder and create the file settings.ats with this content:

If you see the folders/file, make sure you have the right permissions. Right-click on the FogConvolver folder and choose Get Info. Under Sharing & Permissions, add Read & Write to your user.
