Agree with ED. They've also building their own keybeds, one of which was designed from the ground up for Polyphonic Aftertouch for their upcoming CS-80 clone.
But that's not to say Behringer aren't smart about things either though. They'll almost certainly use the UB-Xa development to act as a platform for further poly synths. If we see a Bro-5 or Bro-8 in another yet, I'd expect they'd have built much of that off the work they did for the UB-Xa. Their RD-08 and RD-09 will apparently share much of the same firmware, if not THE same firmware.

erm, same thing, getting parts to original spec....EvilDragon wrote: Wed Apr 29, 2020 8:22 pm They aren't getting original spec parts, they are making clones of original chips
by cloning of course, you mean copying....
nah, it isn't.

well, they are certainly more convenient
you can't really knock them at that price (unless you're a really sad twat)

This one will be OK because it's allowed to have patch memory but you'd have to have rocks in your head to buy any of their "recreations" that don't. I don't mind having sounds from the past but there is no way I want to live in the past, thanks.

You're ignoring the fact Behringer's team worked on several synths concurrently. In those three years they have released many synths.Funkybot's Evil Twin wrote: Wed Apr 29, 2020 8:15 pmWork began on the UB-Xa in January of 2018 and the firmware isn't finished, zero completed, fully-operational units so far. Granted, they worked this off the side of their desks and went back to the drawing board in November and made some changes, but this wasn't fast at all. We still may not see it until 2021. So let's be generous and say 3 years for this one.AnX wrote: Wed Apr 29, 2020 8:09 pmof course they can, nothing original there, just copying someone else's designv1o wrote: Wed Apr 29, 2020 7:56 pm Behringer can knock out these hardware synths at a faster pace than most software plugin developers
modelling hardware in software is a diff beast altogether....

I mean, if you've been following the Gearslutz thread, you'd see that there were different teams working different projects, and a big chunk of the UB-Xa team was actually the same people working on the MIDAS console, and they were allocated more time after that wrapped up and a new team assembled. So there's not a striaghtforward to really measure this other than "work began in January 2018 and it's not done yet." There's a lot of reasons why, and a lot of people who probably worked on a lot of other things in addition to this.v1o wrote: Thu Apr 30, 2020 6:52 pm You're ignoring the fact Behringer's team worked on several synths concurrently. I don't think any one of us are Product Managers at Behringer and should really care about how the sausage is made.

That makes sense for monosynths... but may not be the case with a polysynth.PAK wrote: Wed Apr 29, 2020 12:57 pmAs for features.. Expect the back panel to be full of patch points - if they follow the pattern of previous releases. They (Behringer) seem to regard it as important that their updated designs can interface well with modular gear.

Is this a strict, by the numbers emulation of OB-Xa, or Richard took the best from OB-X, OB-Xa and OB-8 and crammed it into one synth?
I wish it's the latter. I like what Rich did with Legend when he extended its possibilities over original Minimoog D.

Yes, one of the beta testers already said it has interesting features that go beyond the originalStringzy wrote: Thu Apr 30, 2020 7:43 pm Is this a strict, by the numbers emulation of OB-Xa, or Richard took the best from OB-X, OB-Xa and OB-8 and crammed it into one synth?

They kind of have to do that, else people would continue to use the free emulation discoDSP has taken over.

Yes. They might well dial it back, though I'd be surprised if there's not some support (filter mod etc).. At least they'll finally have preset storage though! Just maybe they might even eventually get around to adding it to some of the monosynth designs..pdxindy wrote: Thu Apr 30, 2020 7:08 pmThat makes sense for monosynths... but may not be the case with a polysynth.

OBXD is for kids. George has taken over nothing. he can't even handle the acid guy, who drops his acid feces on George whenever he desires.free emulation discoDSP has taken over
big boys cool their ballsacks in a summer breeze and play OP-X Pro, which gets version 3 refreshment this year.
Rich's OB-Xa will be the new ballsack cooler.
carry on.

Would you have 8 patch points for the 8 filters? How would that work?PAK wrote: Thu Apr 30, 2020 7:59 pmYes. For the guys posting here_:
1. Why do you think OB-Xa is a desireable synth, and what features does it have to make it so?
2. Between OB-X, OB-Xa and OB-8, which one would you prefer?
3. Would you be satisfied with a strict emulation of OB-X, or would you prefer one that would merge OB-X, ON-Xa and OB-8 in a single instrument?
I am curious to know what will be your answers. Personally, I would rather go for the third hipothesis over anything else.
