This has been happening for 20 years already, at least.

How many people already drop phat beats from their construction kits into their Fruity Loops and press play on their preset groovebox sequence, then declare themselves musical geniuses?

Most of you, right?
THIS MUSIC HAS BEEN MIXED TO BE PLAYED LOUD SO TURN IT UP

Post

Is that what you do?

I record and play everything except programming drums and humanizing them. So no can't agree jamcat. Maybe that's you but certainally not me.

I will take the Lord's name in vain, whenever I want. Hail Satan! And his little goblins too.

Guess it must be on loop.....

The shortest path to glory already exists, it's called being a DJ. :phones:
Press play and become a GOD among plebs who couldn't be arsed pressing play themselves..

I forget who posted this, but it was here, and the timestamp dates it to 2003.

So, which DAW will be the first to include this in their system?
You can teach a robot or computer what music is technically, but it will never be able to play or compose with feeling and emotion, the key to any meaningful piece of music.

There are far more interesting things to do to sound with AI than compose songs

Listen, computers and robots are limited by what they know. This involves 0's and 1's that are coded manually by a human being. The code and algorithms are defined by a set of variables and parameters. These are all defined by and limited to human entry. If you want to include random generation and the so called computer learning, which just basically checks your history log and meta data and guesses what you might pick. All these so called A.I. functions are nothing more then what people have done before, not what can be done. If you want more of the same from a robot or computers that spews out collections of data that is sorted and organized based on predetermined parameters, be my guest.

Humans are the masters of invention, not A.I., they only know what you input and calculate based on what you config. And can randomly generate or guesstimate an output, far from a real computer brain, body and SOUL.

Use AI to generate millions of melodies. You then employ some incredibly low paid workers to spend a few minutes on each to modify aspects of them. That's about 5K wages for every million minutes. You now own the copyright. Pattern match against every hit song that comes out and sue for infringement. Settle out of court.

I can think of ways to streamline this

what you pweeple on about?

Technology really is amazing, and it's always bringing up interesting questions like this. It reminds me of desktop publishing, and inexpensive digital photography and video editing.

this has already been tried with spurious patents and mass trademarks, and they have always been thrown out of court. one guy was actually banned from ever suing anyone else, ever again, because he was branded as a "vexatious litigant"
