Korg Collection (V2.0 released, GUI update!)

I appreciate that they finally made the GUI better but now double clicking doesn't reset the knobs and the plugins seem to steal all PC keyboard input from Ableton. And honestly I think the emulation itself needs a rewrite just as badly as the GUI did - if you compare the MS-20 plugin with a real MS-20 it's not even close.

Oh yes indeed. I only bought the whole set recently and was working only on a laptop (now got a decent size monitor to work with) and TBH the MS20 in particular was almost unuseable. Black on black illuminated by a glow worm in the distance looking through the wrong end of a telescope.planetearth wrote: Tue Apr 28, 2020 6:10 amIt's a shame they didn't actually fix their downloader app or tell you what was happening. Within a month, they'll have to send you a link to download the update(s), instead of fixing the problem for everyone. ("There's never time to do it right, but there's always time to do it over", eh, Korg?hwhalen wrote: Tue Apr 28, 2020 5:02 am KORG sent me a link for legacycell which I then changed to all the other synths one by one and downloaded them.
Installed them etc... they are quite nice.
Thanks Steve for all your efforts. Cheers)
Glad you got the updates in though. For the first 5 minutes you're using the Polysix or MS-20, you'll find yourself saying "Oh, is that what that control is?!" now that you can read them.
Have fun!
Steve
The new GUIs are just a delight. I may be an old man and my eyesight ain't what it used to be, but you'd have to be superhuman to work on a laptop with the v1 GUIs (some of them at least).
Now they're so useable, I have to say I'm finding all kinds of sonic possibilities with the Monopoly that I couldn't be bothered experimenting with before because it was so painful trying to see it. I didn't really have that high an opinion of the Monopoly, but now...absolutely loving it.

I agree. As happy as I am about the new GUIs, to me the MS-20 just doesn't cut it as far as sound. Especially when I have Diva and The Drop to get actual MS-20 type sounds.popnfloss wrote: Tue Apr 28, 2020 6:21 am I appreciate that they finally made the GUI better but now double clicking doesn't reset the knobs and the plugins seem to steal all PC keyboard input from Ableton. The Wavestation sounds very nice, especially when you begin editing/creating your own patches. You can create lots of cool, and unique sounds if you experiment with this synth.
I used to have the Wavestation EX back in the early 90's. love how close the VST version sounds to the HW version.

Have to say I find the MS20 close enough to be happy with (and I can compare to a real one). There were different version of MS20 though. It's not perfect, but unless you want to shatter windows, it does most of the grunty sounds IMO. And...I can play chords with it...that has to be worth a huge amount. I can remember way back when sampling different notes on my MS20 and playing back together to make chords - a tedious process (tedious is an understatement). The VSTi isn't quite as screechy if it's pushed, but the actual filter character is pretty close. (IMO).

I'm noticing that the new version of Mono/Poly is causing Cubase (Pro, latest, on Win10) to either vanish completely on closing the project, giving a "Serious error has occurred" message or having issues opening a project with Mono/Poly in it. Anyone else?

My Korg account seems fine, I was able to update M1 OK,hwhalen wrote: Mon Apr 27, 2020 5:36 pm I only learned about this update today...but the downloads don't work in Software Pass, or on id.korg.net
I get 'can not start downloading the file error' on the pass and a website error on korg.net...
Has KORG said there is a problem? Anyone have a answer for this?
Longtime Korg Legacy Collectio user.
Thanx.
great to have the big gui!
When trying to download the legacy collection demo,
the website keeps going in circles back to the Software Pass login area,
rather than moving on to a download link. Looking to demo
the collection prior to a purchase of another plugin.
Is there a hidden link on the Korg site to the windows demo version?
Same circle in Chrome and Firefox, on win 7
Cheers

It seems that you have no choice but to download the individual items in the KORG Legacy Collection via the Software Pass application. I tried to ascertain where KORG Software Pass is downloading the software from, but I was unable to (I suspect that the KLC version 2 installer files might still be hosted somewhere on the korguser.net servers).glokraw wrote: Fri May 01, 2020 12:37 am When trying to download the legacy collection demo,

Problem is, Software Pass asks for Login, from a saved login,
there is nothing to do from the login screen except go to my account page,
where only my purchased M1 is displayed, and some bonus sounds.
If I do a fresh login, an error pops up about scripts running.
If I let the scripts run, a new error appears,
'This program cannot display the webpage'.
Not allowing the scripts to run, simply recycles the login process.
Also, I have the Triton demo installed, but there is no mention of that
in my account settings, and it has not yet been part
of the Legacy Collection, Both M1 and Triton work great,
but I can't browse to any individual download links for the
individual parts of the collection like the Wavestation etc.
Korg do say win 10 is a requirement, so I suppose
they aren't heavily invested in helping Firefox/Chrome stay working
on an old decrepit Win 7 box. Did I just have a vision of a Diva?
Her webpage and demo works perfectly $

Cheers
I can get to individual product pages thru the cart,
but clicking the demo option there just tells you to get the
Software Pass
to install the demo...

Ok I had a pretty good go with the Triton demo and well I'm pretty underwhelmed to be completely honest.
It's way too expensive for what you get. I'd probably pay at the most $150 for this plugin, but at their current price it's pretty laughable.
I suppose if you have to have the sounds of the early 2000s in your music this is a gem, but I really don't see the allure here at all.
