Yes, they are exposed and labelled. It has to be dynamic since you can add the same FX more than once.

If you want to demo again I would contact them. Four years makes it clear it's earnest and they are nice people.

I. Lehti wrote: Fri May 01, 2020 3:15 am The Samplitude Pro Suite was on sale brand new, not the upgrade, for $249 but only until the 28th. I got it a few days ago. Not sure if they've extended the offer past the 28th.
Where did you get it at that price? I'm only seeing that for the upgrade. Thanks.

Thanks! I'm just going to get it. I liked the effects I demoed but not enough to pay full price. At $99 for the majority of them with the only drawback being an extra click to get the plugin you want it's well within no-brainer territory for me.

@Uncle E at the moment you have PRESONUS STUDIO ONE 4.5 PROFESSIONAL UPGRADE FROM ARTIST (ANY VERSION) at a good price - how long is this discounted and does it ever go cheaper? I am not in a great hurry but seriously considering. Also there will be a version 5 sooner or later and I would have to pay to upgrade to that - any idea when that upgrade to V5 is coming out? I am happy to wait until around June

However I don't think that CPU/GPU speed is the only thing that determines value

Some people including myself are saying late May.
Is this hoping or guessing?

Apple screwed themselves when they started soldering RAM and SSD's to the motherboard making them unreparable/upgradeable. What they didn't think about was that it also makes them throwaway products. Throwaway products are not worth as much as lasts forever, but even so, I still want that new/better thing products they used to be. If I had to replace my PC everytime the drive died or it got too full and I needed to upgrade? I would be in big trouble money-wise. And that is a PC. Apple costs more.

Now UAD, they allow your computer to offload some of the heavy processing needed by the effects from the CPU. Problem is, the CPU's have gotten so much better now, you don't really need to offload processing power to an external source. Unless you have a real large number of tracks with effects. So the benefit of paying more for UAD interfaces and plugins is just not there for most of us. I'm guessing those who do need that ability also don't mind paying more for it. Even on "sale".

Cool theory, however in practice:
my 2012 i7 quad/16GB RAM 15" retina macbook pro, now 8 years old, is now in use by my gf (who also does music, but more as writer/composer not as much production), and it works absolutely flawlessly, packs as much punch as my 2018 13" and still looks great. RAM did not die, SSD did not die.

The previous model i had which had replacable RAM and drive, was dated in 4 years. the 2012 is still not dated, it still works amazingly well.

In my Mini, i replaced RAM myself. Because I use both laptop and desktop, i've thrown most of everything i use - sans system - on my external Thunderbolt 3 drive, so i couldn't care less about internal storage, and besides, given apple's track record, internal SSD dying on me is the least of my worries.

For laptops, soldered RAM i really don't care about. I would much prefer that apple used m.2 NVMe drives however! Not because of failure rate, but because SSD drives and prices fluctuate wildly, and storage needs do so as well.

If we're being anedoctal - every one of my PC friends and colleagues replaced their computer twice in the meantime. I don't plan on replacing my current setup (updated last year) for at least 8 years.

But i'd really rather stop right there. Apple costs more than a PC, but it also has its benefits.

Pc and mac both have their advantages. Otherwise no one (or at least no one with any brains) would be interested in the solution. Accusing half large part of music community of lacking brain would be a BIT too much. ...but just a bit ;p
