Hi,
What are some, around the 100$ mark usb audio interfaces you would recommend?
I won't record anything (yet), so audio output quality and the headphone out is important. It does not have to drive 250 ohm headphones, but akg 240s would be great.

Behringer U-Phoria UMC202HD is best bang for your buck, you can even get more featured (and future proof) UMC204HD for the price you will pay for cheapest Focusrite Solo and the rest of the usual suspects, also it will drive your AKG's for sure.

I've got one of these and had no issues with it. Drivers just work, low latencies on an aging i5 laptop, recordings are clean etc. Can push my regular headphones (~40ohms) really loud so akgs shouldn't be a problem.Passing Bye wrote: Fri May 01, 2020 6:57 am Behringer U-Phoria UMC202HD is best bang for your buck, you can even get more featured (and future proof) UMC204HD for the price you will pay for cheapest Focusrite Solo and the rest of the usual suspects, also it will drive your AKG's for sure.

Yes, it's their newish current line, class compliant so it works out of the box/without additional drivers on macOS or Linux and there's additional ASIO drivers for Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8 and 10.

Yes, I stopped even writing, just copy-pasting my opinion, seems like tons of people these days are buying ~100 bucks interfaces for their moderate impedance cans use.

i should go for the UMC204HD, why? because of 2 knobs... stereo/mono, and mix, for direct monitoring. if you record with one pre-amp you can switch to mono, if not you hear it from one side... and you can mix between daw output and pre-amp input.Passing Bye wrote: Fri May 01, 2020 6:57 am Behringer U-Phoria UMC202HD is best bang for your buck, you can even get more featured (and future proof) UMC204HD for the price you will pay for cheapest Focusrite Solo and the rest of the usual suspects, also it will drive your AKG's for sure.
of course if you need this. for me it is perfect for vocals.
it is my secondary sound interface, for my mobile "studio", but it performs excellent.
my personal opinion, by the way. don't let the name behringer fool you, the drivers are excellent, the built is excellent, also the sound. and for a price...
(i have for my main studio a motu ultralite mk3 hybrid. the behringer, considering the price, and the specs, and by experience does a great job.)
