Is there a v3 rumour going around about OP-X Pro II? If so, I didn't hear about it.

There is a Rack Edition that is easier to use.e-crooner wrote: Thu Apr 30, 2020 9:21 pmI just couldn't deal with the GUI of the OP-X Pro, frankly.Stringzy wrote: Thu Apr 30, 2020 8:07 pmOBXD is for kids. Rich's OB-Xa will be the new ballsack cooler.
carry on.

Yeah, that's true, I hadn't really noticed. But the 12dB filter is generally a lot more useful than the 24dB, which is quite unusual. The resonance on the 12dB filter is tamer but it is full of grit and character.

They are indeed different. In OB-Xa, 24dB is a typical ladder design, and 12dB is state variable (like SEM), but LP only.

Thanks for that tidbit of info. That alone tells me it'll be a nice synth to pick up as something complimentary to my OB-6. Can't wait to use both in a song.EvilDragon wrote: Fri May 01, 2020 1:44 pm They are indeed different. In OB-Xa, 24dB is a typical ladder design, and 12dB is state variable (like SEM), but LP only.

I guess i alraedy mentioned that but in the OB-Xa the 12dB and 24dB LPF are actually 2 independent circuits using their own CEM 3320 filter chip which means the OB-Xa has 2 filter chips per voice.EvilDragon wrote: Fri May 01, 2020 1:44 pm They are indeed different. Details about both OB-Xa filters and other CEM 3320 filter designs are found here:
https://electricdruid.net/cem3320-filter-designs/
Quotes from the part about the OB-Xa filters:
The 24dB/Oct lowpass filter is a fairly standard design, although it uses a +15V/-5V supply. Otherwise, it is much as the datasheet suggests. I don’t understand why they specified 1% resistors for the Frequency CV input, and then went and put a 10K trimmer in – seems daft to me. Perhaps the 1% resistors had better thermal characteristics or something.
The 12dB/Oct lowpass filter is a completely different story! This is nothing like the datasheet! Instead, Oberheim have used the chip to implement a 2 pole state-variable filter. Stage 1 is only used to mix the signals. This is usually done with a differential op-amp, but they’ve saved one amp by doing it like this. Stages 2 and 3 are the actual filter poles, and Stage 4 is unused. I think the fact that they haven’t got a proper differential amp accounts for the extra-complicated feedback and resonance paths, but I’m not sure. Given that this is a state-variable filter, it should also produce a highpass and a bandpass response, but these aren’t used here. It’s a pity, as that would have set the OB-Xa apart from the competition.

Yes, you already mentioned that. More than once.

May i ask you to make all, not just most, parameters controllable via MIDI? Some parameters are missing in Legend iirc.
I'm looking for great sounding and fully controllable synth plugins for ages. I think there are only a few simpler ones that have it.

some stuff is intentionally left out as it is problematic (cpu spikes, loud noises etc) and users see it as a bug

Legend misses some stuff on the back panel like 'performance' (mod matrix) and the polyphony switch on the front panel for example.AnX wrote: Wed May 06, 2020 11:27 amwhat is missing?mi-os wrote: Wed May 06, 2020 10:11 am May i ask you to make all, not just most, parameters controllable via MIDI? The thing is when you want to build hardware controllers yourself you want everything and then decide what parameters you omit or want to have in your design. But i found there are often important parameters missing and for me that gets in the way to ever finish something.
