Le Parisien is a sample library for Kontakt based on three accordions.
It’s a faithful recreation of the sound and behaviour of the real instruments.

Recorded with three mic positions and multiple round robin in a perfect studio environment. The library includes all the features you need to create beautiful and evocative accordion melodies and accompaniments easily.

Includes a full mixer, our effects system that lets you add any effect to any channel, built-in sequencer with chord recognition and settings page that lets you control basically any parameter you might ever need.

THE ACCORDIONS:
ROUGE: Chordox accordion with 5 registers: master, bandon, bassoon, musette and violin.

BLANC: Valetta accordion with two registers: single reed and double reed.

NOIR: Frontalini accordion with two registers: single reed and double reed.

Being a sucker for accordion, I bought (a license for) Le Parisien on first sight (listen).

Lovely sound and thoughtful instrument layout, but I didn't quite get along with the playability of version 1.0.0.

The only two expression controls in 1.0 were either MW (not easy if you're also playing accompaniment with the left hand) or note velocity - but expression in an accordion is global and depends on bellows pressure, not on how hard you hit individual notes.

Then, yesterday, I downloaded v1.0.1 update, where you can use any MIDI CC for expression. Yay!

With CC 11 from my Roland EV-5 pedal, Le Parisien is arguably the best accordion emu and definitely the most fun to play – at least in my software collection. A truly inspiring instrument!

A feature that's really important, and possibly unique, in Le Parisien is the option to adjust sample start. That means you can get a fast attack for e.g. jazzy riffs and a softer attack when playing more lyrical pieces.

I have a request for version 1.1.

A skilled accordion player has a knack of applying subtle tremolo using bellows pressure by shaking, or 'fluttering', the left hand.

So, how about adding an optional LFO with bellows pressure as destination? Ideally with aftertouch among the controller options.

Summing up: Bravo, Wavesfactory!
If it were easy, anybody could do it!

Hi guys,

Le Parisien has been updated to version 1.0.3.
We fixed a bug that caused some notes to be stuck.

You can download the update by generating new download links in your user account:

Updated files have also been sent to Plugin Boutique.

Is there a way just to get the updated files?

Le Parisien is, IMHO, one of the best sounding accordions available. 'Round robin' adds life, not least to the sequenced left hand accompaniment, and likewise to the the right hand, where adjustable attack and sample start controls allow for various playing styles.

However, the sequencer for left hand accompaniment is apparently meant for pre-recorded chords in your DAW, either pencilled in graphically in the DAW piano roll window, or played in beforehand with heavy quantization. The reason is that, contrary to most VI:s with sequenced accompaniment, this one lacks latch and also doesn't offer any 'slop margin' that allows you to hit the new chord, say, one beat before the next downbeat.

These limitations mean that I find very difficult to play the accompaniment 'live', since I have to hit the new chord smack on the downbeat or have the sequence drag. A serious limitation, if you like to improvise or play in stuff 'live' while songwriting, for instance.

Most current VI:s, such as Sonokinetic Accordion, Pettinhouse Funk Bass, Realitone Fingerpick or NI Session Guitarrist series, to just pick a few examples, that use sequencing for comping either have latch or/and a 'slop margin', that allows you to change chord input on the beat before the following downbeat.

So, here's hoping that Wavesfactory will eventually release a version 1.1 of Le Parisien, with the eminently versatile sequencer updated to allow for 'live' playing.
If it were easy, anybody could do it!

Wavesfactory got back to me. For the record...when you unpack the rar files, use Winrar only. I used 7zip which causes problems. Just put both files in a directory, open the first, unpack and it will automatically call up the second and unpack that. Otherwise, you'll end up as I did, and have two folders with duplicates; having to merge folders.
...and the electron responded, "what wall?"
