The piano roll in FL Studio is amazing, but I still have to use a 3rd party plugin to record the midi out from 3rd party VSTs and that sucks!
Why did you choose FL Studio?

Because there was far less choice 20 years ago, Muzys was abandoned, Cubase sucked balls, Logic had dropped Windows support, Ableton didn't do midi until v4

Event editing is what I avoid first... not really a pleasure to work with...more an ancient relict from times before...clipnotic wrote: Fri May 01, 2020 10:12 pm You know, that you can work with events instead of using automation clips, too?...
Nevertheless it´s far more hassle than everywhere else...... And automation with 3rd party plugins is exactly the same, just use the "browser parameters" option.
FLS is the only DAW I am aware of where you have to leave the plugin wrapper to be able to activate automation for certain parameter not to speak that you first have to select a range where the clip shall be placed and the inability to choose a track where it shall go to if you are not working with track modes...
That´s indeed a unique positive feature of FLS...And you can link as much parameters as you want to one target, too, just remove the link conflict ...

Years ago I worked a lot with Cubase (license not owned by myself) but after that I didn't work with any DAW for many years. When the time came to buy my first own DAW I started to look at every DAW on the market. At first I gravitated towards Cubase or Studio One, but then I found that FL Studio offered most bang for the buck. I got producer edition with several synths, effects, etc.
Since then I also got myself Cubase, Studio One and Reason, but FL Studio is the DAW I am using the most. I got to know the work flow and functions over the years so all my work is now much faster with FL Studio compared to other DAWs.

Or tweak the parameter and then go to the last tweaked parameter and create automation lane.clipnotic wrote: Fri May 01, 2020 10:12 pm You know, that you can work with events instead of using automation clips, too? I ALMOST chose FL Studio to switch to recently (as someone who never used it in the past), but didn't due to "traditional" workflow changes that I couldn't cope with (mainly take comping... a must have for me particularly).
But the reason that I almost chose it was because it was simply inspiring to me at the time I was demoing it. Whether it was the GUI, the stock effects, certain non-traditional workflow things (contrary to what I said above), or something else intangible, I couldn't really tell you though.
