Well, I made some lush New Age sounds with it too
Any Tone2 Warmverb users?

Nah. That was just overzealous anti-piracy measures. They removed that when they got called out on it. They’re fine to use.zeep wrote: Fri May 01, 2020 3:58 pm I still have it installed, the only Tone2 i own still. But i'm always a bit worried using it because there've been a lot of discussions regarding Tone 2 being close to spyware.

Its a good versatile MultiFX, the only thing im frequently missing is BPM sync for the Chorus and Phaser and all the others that cant be synced.
Still nice to have, wont part with it unless im forced to, i.e. not able to run it anymore.

But on topic, yes I have Warmverb and I use it when I want to mix up some cool effects. I love the ensemble effect. The vocoder can be so cool too when combined with some other effects.
The reverb sounds nice, but I own their Ultraspace Reverb, I got it recently, it's actually really nice sounding for the genres I am in. I love Tone2 stuff, always have, always will.
I think updating it would require major rework, same as Filterbank 3 , I do nag Markus about that, and he's seriously considering it, it's a huge undertaking for him to rework a plugin from the ground up. So maybe he will, maybe he won't, I don't know, I know he tried to focus on the big synths and keeping them up to date too. I'll mention this to him too, that there is interest to see Warmverb updated too
Good to see Tone2 plugins getting positively mentioned here at KVR after all these years.

Unfortunately ears dont help a lot if you want say a phaser to really remain in perfect sync with the rest of the song. Because with manual speed control, values as little as 0.001 off the BPM (and you will ALWAYS be a bit off with manual speed) will inevitably lead to the effect going out of sync in a matter of seconds, (not minutes), i.e. unless the speed is perfectly spot on you might as well forget the whole thing, unless having the effect in sync doesnt matter.
But oftentimes it does matter, and thats why having BPM sync as an option is of great importance. Preferably also with the phase synced to song-position so that the effect doesnt sound different at different song positions every time you (re-)start the project.

I also prefer when there are also tempo sync options, but if you have a calculator app on your computer / smart device, or are better at maths than me, you can easily calculate the correct speed at least yourself by dividing 60 by your project's tempo to achieve quarter note values.
So if you're at 120BPM it's 60/120= 0.5s= 500ms. If you want eighth notes, you'll halve that, so it's 250ms, if you want a full bar you quadruple it to, in this case, 2000ms, etc.
But of course this doesn't solve the sync at playback start value issues, should a plugin not support this.

The problem is not the math, its the precision of the plugins controls and of course the plugin itself. For instance only because it says 1.00 Hz, or 0.50 Hz, or 0.25 Hz on the UI doesnt mean that the effect is actually running at precisely that speed. There is rounding involved, and some plugins dont allow for the necessary fine adjustments in the first place.
Lets stick with Warmverb as an example. (Phaser.) It will show 1.00 Hz on the UI anywhere between 0.79211 and 0.79475 units of VST parameter range, which goes from 0 to 1. Thats 264 different values (i.e. speeds) at which the UI says that the phaser is running at 1.00 Hz. So what this means is that you basically have 264 guesses as to which is the perfect 1.00 Hz value, if any that is, because VSTHost shows only 5 decimals.
(Usually, using Warmverbs own phaser speed knob to dial in 1.00 Hz, (which can be difficult itself because it often keeps jumping between 0.99 and 1.01), you will land at 0.79333, but i have seen it landing on different values occasionally. This is not a terrible value, but will it make the phaser run at precisely 1.00 Hz, like it says on the UI? Unfortunately not, it always goes out of sync eventually.)
So you see, there is more to it than just the math. Unless a non-BPM-syncable plugin supports numeric entering of a precise time value and then keeps it over long periods of time, BPM sync is the only good option. With anything else you will only drive yourself crazy.

Ok, i've never used Warmverb. And i hate it too when plugins don't allow precise inputs on parameters that really require it and you're busy for “ages“ trying just to get to those values after countless bidirectional overshoots

How critical perfect synchronization is, (particularly in effects), can be seen by looking at DiversionFX, another great MultiFX, which (unfortunately) goes out of sync even when BPM sync is enabled. It shows how the calculation just needs to be a tad off and bam, everything is ruined. I dont remember the thread, but i remember posting an audio example of this a few years ago where the desync started as early as 20 seconds into the song, causing more and more audible clicks. Shortly before the 1 minute mark it was so bad that you wouldnt miss it even on a telephone speaker.
So yeah, precision is a must when it comes to syncing, otherwise it aint worth a lot.

Isn't this essentially free with an old issue of CM?
Fun multi-effect that I forget about a little with TRIAD, Tantra, and Cableguys installed.

Same. I'll try and lookup the issue number if anyone is curious!
