It's pretty easy actually (I just had 2 support cases): You click through their support question suggestions, and, at the end, you can contact them if you still have a question which hasn't been answered via their knowledge base.
read what they're writing again, this is true you need help with: Account & Order, Help Install and Uninstall , DJ Music Production and HW issues.

Otherwise, you're requested to solve it via the community.
Of course you get help with the plugins as well. Music production is where you want to head.

At some point in the solution wizard, you get to contact them directly, if your problem "was not solved" with the answers from the knowledge base. I know it's a bit confusing, but, I can see where they're coming from, with probably many asking where the on button ist. ;)

if the issue was not solve you get the following options:
Ok. Here you have two additional options which may help you find a solution to your issue in the quickest way possible:

1. Use our Help Center Search to browse our vast repertoire of online help resources.

2. Search our Support Community - posts describing the same issue as yours will already have solutions provided by our support team.
as I've mentioned, I'm aware of the Support Community which I tried couple of times.

I don't get any option to open a support case.

Ok, I see it now. I'd just pick one of the other options then. I doubt that they'd deny you support just because you didn't choose the right category. I just had request to de-register a serial with them as well, and, as I mentioned, it was handled quickly and competently.

i just bought the NI soundset expansion package. what i don't get: so many presets seem focused on showing us how weird, or unusual, MX can be... instead of how musical, and useful it can be. and why do so many presets have weird, going-out-of tune effects?

am sure there are ppl here doing experimental music, and value such things. but i wish we'd get less "look what a cool plugin i am!" presets. still, a reminder to do my own, i guess 8)

I called NI support and talked to the bored agent who did whatever he needed to do to get me off the phone as possible.

If I were to hazard a guess - cinema and TV. When I listen to cues recently the music , if you call it that, is not so far removed from pure effects.

They're selling sound sets now, but they still haven't sorted out the folder issue for sound sets. Everything just gets lumped into the user folder.
Orion Platinum, Muzys 2

this (altho the NI sets do get their own folder, each). and, perpetual3... i'm all for effects, odd soundscapes, etc... i just don't get why so many MX presets drift out-of-tune, on purpose (but reason to tweak things, so all will be well)

TBH, the showcased sounds left me absolutely cold as well. I don't even know what kind of musical genres those sounds should be good for.

As you say, some more classic sounds would much better show what MX is capable of. :)

You mean, All new 3 packs sound the same? By their description there seems to be some variety..

I was commenting on that video. Can't find it now. The demos on the expansion page are better though (actually, some of those sounds are really good... maybe a good thing that they pulled that video). https://www.native-instruments.com/en/p ... xpansions/

Do you think?
Listening to the demos on their page is what made me give up from buying MX.

Post

Yeah. Sounded completely shit to me when I watched the vid (not sure who threw those sounds together), but, the demos have some good sounds IMO.

You should really try the demo though, sound demos are never a good way to decided for a synth.

am not saying that at all. just feel that a lot of the presets show off MX's capabilities... without having any useful musical value (& i realize how subjective this all is). plus, i don't get the echo'y- drift-out-of tune idea, but NI seems to love that...

I tried and I love it, to my ears MX is terrific, both sounds and modulation are very good (even with the huge amount of effects used). The UI is the only thing I don't like, but it's not a big issue.
The three packs offer, though, which is really cool, let me disappointed when I heard the the demos which didn't click with my taste. I don't know exactly how to explain, but I don't need an infinite list of useless presets.
However, I want to take a few days to decide.
