This is one that I was singing in the bath today. You have to sing it out loud or hear it to understand why it is so good and you have to pronounce the T in "that" to make it work.
Who breathed the life
Through seas of time
That I may simply breathe
Who breathed the life
Through seas of time
That I may simply breathe

"You told your momma I'd get you home
But you didn't say that I got no car
I saw a lion, he was standing alone
With a tadpole in a jar"

I have just been listening to Barbara Streisand's "Evergreen" for the first time in decades and I was struck, first of all by what a beautiful song it is and how it is structured without the usual verse - chorus - verse - chorus format. Then on a second playing, this line struck me:
"Spirits rise and their dance is unrehearsed"

My mum had the Star Is Born soundtrack album and played it a fair amount. I didn't get the hype over the recent version because none of the songs I heard sounded particularly good IMO. From the original Evergreen though was a corker and Queen Bee and Watch Closely Now were decent. Yeah Evergreen was interesting not only for the verse structure, but also the way the harmony vocals snaked around each other.Erisian wrote: Sun Jun 21, 2020 10:47 pm I have just been listening to Barbara Streisand's "Evergreen" for the first time in decades and I was struck, first of all by what a beautiful song it is and how it is structured without the usual verse - chorus - verse - chorus format.
