No, it doesn't, and I worked in "Comping" and "Sound on Sound" modes tonight. I don't use "Overwrite", but that wouldn't splice your track--it would just keep recording over it--unless you started at different times for each take. Then it would "splice" into the recording. But that's still not what you're describing.
Are you recording audio or MIDI tracks or both? I've been working with MIDI tracks.

Audio - I almost exclusively record audio, but I have some MIDI capable-keybord lying around, so will test that later to see whether it behaves differently here..
It would make me glad to see it's just a bug - if that was coded on purpose it would scare me hell out of me...

Yes, this sounds like the "ripple edit" feature in Cakewalk by Bandlab; Sonar didn't have this. Are you on Sonar or CbB?Saffran wrote: Sat May 02, 2020 10:50 am Jens.
It's only "ripple edit" that does something like that. If it is set to "all".
Check out the "ripple edit" button top right over the tracks. It should be off.

No, ripple edit is off here - but even if it was enabled it shouldn't do this, I think… ?
I use the latest version (2020.04) -> edit: nope, there seems to be an update to the update available… downloading now.

Not doing that if each take gets its own track...

Each audio track or each audio take lane?

I just checked, and it while it appears CwB has no option to delete the preferences file, you might have luck with one of these: http://forum.cakewalk.com/Revert-to-def ... 85831.aspx.

I meant it's doing it when set to lane-per-take but not when set to track-per-take

Thanks, but I guess that should be a kind of last ressort for me... I dread having to spend ages to get it back to how I have set it up...planetearth wrote: Sat May 02, 2020 12:47 pm I just checked, and it while it appears CwB has no option to delete the preferences file, you might have luck with one of these: http://forum.cakewalk.com/Revert-to-def ... 85831.aspx.

Maybe Jens' issue could be moved to a separate thread?
It's not fair to creativesauce who's gone to a lot of trouble to compile these vids to have his thread hijacked...

Oh, yeah, absolutely. I didn't mean to hi-jack the thread.
I was hoping it was some kind of setting and as such relevant here as according to the thread title. If it however is a bug instead, then it ain't really as much...

Why don't you report that in the user's forum? If you are using the last update, devs will surely be curious.jens wrote: Sat May 02, 2020 2:42 pm Oh, yeah, absolutely. For the sake of accuracy I think you will find SONAR did indeed have Ripple Editing, I believe it was added around June 2017 (Better late than neverplanetearth wrote: Sat May 02, 2020 11:44 amYes, this sounds like the "ripple edit" feature in Cakewalk by Bandlab; Sonar didn't have this.
